Property Description

Interning or moving to Washington DC? Just exploring the United States Capitol? This is the perfect housing alternative for international students and interns in any of the cities we service! We're located just 5 minutes to the US Capitol, The Library of Congress, The Washington Navy Yard and many more nearby attractions. Furthermore, we have restaurants and cafes within walking distance, easy for you to reach! Close to Multiple Metro and bus stations.

Check out what makes Duo Nomad the #1 choice for students, travelers, and interns!
?Everything is all brand-new - we've got new bathrooms and a new media room!
?We also have the cleanest rooms in DC because we have a policy of no shoes in the house and no food/eating in the guest rooms.
?Room rates include free bed linen, free bath towels, free maid service and a free lockable locker - bring your own lock!

There's also free coffee and tea as well as free kitchen utensils if you want to cook for yourself.
?Free Breakfast, free Wi-Fi, free Internet, free computer usage, free use of our Nintendo Wii and free house events, as well as drinkable water, all throughout the house.
?...and, of course, free meeting new friends. The big city is intimidating to new guests, but you can plan on making some great new friends. Many of our guests end up becoming friends and getting apartments together!
?Duo Nomad is designed to encourage interaction among our guests as much as possible. Our rooms are shared, as are the bathroom facilities, kitchens, and living rooms. The living room (or social room) has a huge 42' flat-screen TV, all the premium cable TV channels, DVD player, and a phone to call anywhere in the continental US.

Need some down time? There's a separate quiet study area, too.
?What makes us different? The biggest difference is our hostels were started by people just like you and are run by people with needs just like yours. So instead of coming home from school or your internship to an impersonal warehouse of beds, you feel like you're coming home - you're staying with people who fast become your friends; you cook with people from all over the world; you get to learn and experience the city first-hand with friends.

No complaints. Really close to the Metro, I stayed in the 12 bed room, but only 4 of us were there. They make really good pancakes in the morning, its nice and quiet, beds were comfortable. 2 changing codes for the doors so really safe. You drop your shoes by the door which is odd, but I had socks and crocs so I didn't mind. Patio area was nice, people were cool, computer use and tv available to share.

Excellent. Great location, friendly staff, and friendly travelers. The roof space and the pancake breakfast were high points. *If your flight/train/bus is leaving late at night on the day of check out* - they have strict policies about spending time inside the hostel after you’ve checked out at 11am. You’re allowed to keep your bags there as long as you need, but don’t bank on being able to use the couches or facilities once you have checked out. Not a huge deal but helpful to note!

Duo Housing had a good location and was overall really clean. It is perfect for socializing and I met so many people. The rooms were really tiny though and there were no big lockers, only small ones for some valuables. Breakfast was much appreciated. The staff was also really nice and able to help at any given task.

Staffs were friendly. Thank you jasmine and David. Some facilities were out of date. There’s no shower on 2nd floor. Everything else is easy.

    Good

The four bed room was so small I had to keep my bag on the bed. Wish there had been a locker for my bag in the room. The bunk beds were rickety, so every time somebody moved it woke me up. As a woman I didn't feel safe or comfortable sleeping in a room with three strange men.

The location of this hostel was choice. But, I found the place to feel very institutional and impersonal. Everyone there seemed in a really bad place and the vibe was depressing. This was my subjective take off of one night. This is only the 4th hostel I’ve stayed in but definitely my worst. It was raining when I was there and there were only a couple of seats and so everyone was gathered in the front room some sitting in the floor because there was nowhere else to be other than in your bed.

Duo Housing DC says

I think what really makes us special is our extras, particularly the comprehensive map tour given by one of our friendly, multi-lingual, knowledgeable resident assistants. They give a lot of great suggestions for things like their favourite Smithsonian Museums, their favourite places to eat inexpensively or where to get the most beautiful photos of the skyline. We also give each guest a house tour to acquaint them with our property in an effort to make them feel comfortable and welcome.
We strive to make this each guest's home-away-from-home and endeavour to make guests feel at home, as if they're staying with friends rather than in an impersonal environment.
The National Mall, where all of the Smithsonian Museums and national monuments are located, is about a 20-minute walk from our property. Personally I recommend that all of our guests make sure to stop by Georgetown Cupcake-they won a national cupcake contest!
We have activities planned for almost every day of the week, like Movie Night, American Football Night, Bingo Night, etc. Our staff have also compiled a list of fun things to do and fun places to visit that we've arranged by neighbourhood. Plus there's an announcement board with a daily-updated list of fun things going on in town. This always includes something cultural, something for food and drinks and something just for fun.
