Since it was my first time ever staying at a hostel I was pleasantly surprised with East Ends. To start Jordan made me feel very welcome and we had some serious bants. Everyone was very nice and I had an overall grand experience.

The place got potential but they need to clean more often. Many people actually live in the hostel so it makes it crowded and full. The evening lady is nice, friendly and helpful.

This hostel operates a split-site, which wasn't obvious when we booked. Check-in was up one flight of stairs, but our room was up 4 flights of stairs nearby. We had a heavy suitcase! The kitchen was full of dirty dishes and the oven didn't work when we checked in. Our room wasn't particularly clean, and there was not enough bedding provided. Both members of staff we spoke to were friendly and polite. The engineer could not be summoned to fix the hot water boiler so we had no hot water.

The location is nice if you want to live close to Brick Lane and the cool East London. The guy at the reception was very nice and friendly. But. The place was very dirty and didn't have any atmosphere what so ever. The bed was dirty and the mattress had clearly been used many, many years. At night I didn't feel safe. I shared a room with a guy who had clearly smoked weed in the room as the whole place stank, and he didn't sleep at all at night. Just sat and laughed in his bed.

I chose Eastend beds because of its location, near Whitechapel Gallery. I chose a private room at 40 pound a night, wanting somewhere clean and warm to sleep for two nights. I arrived a little later than usual, meaning it was late, as a result I had to walk from one area to another because the private rooms were based elsewhere. Not a problem, but the security of the door was appalling and the cleanliness of the room was awful. To say I paid 80 pound, I thought I would have clean bedsheets.

We got there and stayed there for two nights. The first thing we noticed at the hostel was the scruffiness and how unorganized everything was. Right at the entrance we’re these huge pile of dirty bet sheets which nobody of the staff cared about. Probably the worst thing about the hostel was the smell in our room. This Hostel was the worst. I wouldn’t recommend to anyone.

I'm pretty sure this hostel doesn't meet legal requirements of any kind. Dirty, broken, rats outside the hostel. It's a hostel for working people not casual travellers.
