Overview

If you need a peaceful space for a spot of respite from energetic Berlin, Eastener Hostel is just the place – you'll love our calm atmosphere and warm hospitality. Strike up a conversation in our new common room; we purposely don't have a TV so you can really get to know your new friends! We'll also help you discover the city like a local with free walking tours every morning. At night, grab a book from our exchange with a free cup of tea or coffee. Reception closes at 8pm, so you know you'll get a quiet night in.

Location

We're in the Mitte neighbourhood, the heart of Berlin where you'll find a mix of attractions and hipster restaurants. Our nearest U-Bahn (subway) station is Oranienburger Tor, where you can hop on the U6 line for a direct link to hip Kreuzberg and the old airport, Tempelhofer Feld, which is now a public park. We're about an hour from Berlin Schönefeld Airport via public transport, half an hour from Berlin Tegel Airport and less than 10 minutes from the main train station.

Rooms and Dorms

You'll get classic hostel vibes in our mixed dorms and some hotel-style privacy in our double or twin bedrooms. We've got lockers in every room – just remember to bring your own padlock to keep your belongings safe. We've got towels available for hire at reception, and there's a small charge for linen.

Extras and activities

There are plenty of places to eat and drink in our neighbourhood, but if you feel like keeping it chilled, you're welcome to cook for yourself in our fully equipped kitchen. There's also a mini supermarket around the corner, so grabbing ingredients is super easy. Plus, we've got an ATM on-site in case you need to top up your supply of euros before heading out.

Great place and friendly staff. Not typical Berlin party oriented hostel IMO, and fit my needs well.

Great little hostel. Very quiet so if you want to spread out, party and meet a lot of people this isn’t the hostel for you. But it is VERY nice, staff are great, and the kitchen is great to cook in and has free tea and coffee 😊

The Easterner Hostel was a great place to stay in Berlin. It was small but clean and comfortable. The location couldn't have been better; Mitte is a fun neighbourhood with great food, and the hostel is within walking distance of most main attractions. The staff were really friendly, and they accommodated our late checkin and let us store our bags during the day after we'd checked out. They also offered a free walking tour. We'd definitely consider staying here again if we come back to the city!

Everything was okay but was quite unsatisfied with the extra charge for bedding which seems pretty unnecessary...

Bit too close to the road for my personal liking, but atmosphere and attitude of the host (Tim) made up for any issues. He was the kindest and most helpful host ever, and his bubbly personality made the hostel an amazing place! Would stay again!

    Very Good

    22 Jun 2019
The room was clean but very crowded. The room had a double bed, two small tables and a chair. There was no room to move around. The WiFi was terrible - I could not get it a connect. The staff is not there so no help was around. You had to let yourself in when you got there. The shower was small. I move around and hit the knob and turn the really hot water on.

Overall the place wasn't to bad, there were a couple of big issues which really ruined our experience though, the kitchen that is advertised doesn't have a stove top/oven so unless you are having salad or a microwave meal then you have to eat out regardless, but the biggest issue by far was the Wifi! The few times that it would actually connect it was so slow that Web pages timed out.. If you need to use the internet to plan stuff while travelling then avoid this place.

While I definitely appreciated the Eastener’s cost for its location, my stay left a fair amount to be desired. I switched from the room right next to the kitchen to a more private one a couple of days in, only to discover: 1) The WiFi didn’t reach my room (the staff claimed they couldn’t do anything) 3) My new room’s window looked out onto a courtyard where the apartment residents above keep their trashcans 4) Minimal soundproofing I didn’t hate it, but please know what you’re getting.
