Property Description

Eco Hostal Joshua Vegetarian Restaurant is a small, family run, eco-minded hostel located near the waterfront in Copacabana, Bolivia. Our large garden area provides a peaceful atmosphere for our guests. Within the hostel we have the only all vegan/vegetarian restaurant in Copacabana, and serve breakfast, lunch and dinner. We bake our own bread and are known for our falafels and veggie burgers.
Most of our rooms have views of the lake and open on to the garden. There is Wi-Fi internet available throughout the hostel. If you have a vehicle, we have secure parking available within the grounds. We speak English, German, French and Spanish.

We are located one block from the lake front and just a 15 minute walk from the main square and Basilica. Boats leaving for Isla del Sol and Isla de la Luna are a quick, 8 minute walk down the beach.

We’ve created a warm and comfortable atmosphere in our rooms. Each room has a hand painted mural, windows, and wooden floors. Most rooms have sunset views over the lake and the garden. Our beds are very comfortable with new mattresses, as well as several layers of sheets and blankets for the lovely yet cold copacabana nights. View House Rules

Really happy with the decision of staying at Joshua’s. It’s out of the main touristic area, but close enough for a walk. The view from the terrace is great for the sunset. Good breakfast for good price and the atmosphere is awesome.

Perfect quiet place in Copacabana, walking distance from everything. They even made my bed whereas I had no check out planned, first time after probably more than 50 hostels around the world. Beautiful place, sweet and helpful staff. Very ecological : veggie garden, compost, dry heads, veggie menus. I would love a guest kitchen in plus of the restaurant and an inside living area, with couches, sofas... But otherwise it's perfect

Such a cute place. One of the more expensive hostels in town but also the only social place we found. There are lovely common areas and comfy beds and beautiful views of the lake. I loved the garden too!

Nice eco hostel with a good vibe. The breakfast was delicious and filling with the nicest homemade peanut butter. We stayed in the double private hut which was super cosy but also spacious. We ordered falafel wraps for our packed lunch to go to the Isla del sol and they were amazing!!

    Very Good

The room was clean and well equipped with lockers, plug sockets in each dormitory bed, and the reception leant me a hairdryer. The restaurant has reasonably priced and yummy vegan/vegetarian food with decent portions but the good took forever to come. The showers are luke warm with low pressure at best. Helpful and secure storage for my luggage when I left it to go to Isla del Sol for the night. There is a cute friendly cat called Cata.

    Very Good

It was a great place to stay but sadly we had a huge dog in our room for the whole night and we’re not able to sleep and nobody’s knows who’s dog that was (probably living on the streets). My boyfriend is highly allergic to the hair of animals and after telling the staff what happened they decided to do nothing for us because “it was also not their dog”..?! ( after arguing the guy at the reception gave us an discount of 1€ ) That was kind of sad but overall it was okay.

If you’re not paying upfront ahead of time they want you to leave a passport. They gave mine to someone else! Luckily he was still there and solved without much fuss. But if you’re ‘guarding’ someone’s passport ‘guard’ it. Could have easily been a much bigger problem. Laundry service was displayed as taking 3-5 hours. After 4 it was not started. Not great if you have a bus booked. Dorm with massive window and thin curtain makes it impossible to rest after the sun is out.

They have good food you can purchase at the restaurant although my experience was tainted on the last day. Everyone’s things went missing in the dorm room. Jewellery, shoes, phone chargers, headphones and towels. It looked like cleaning staff had removed EVERYTHING that wasn’t locked away in a locker. We asked for it back and got it returned except jewellery + headphones. The hostel owner then accused us of negligence and was yelling at us when we were trying to leave. Extremely unprofessional
