So happy I found Mayachik! Beautiful grounds, cozy beds, hot showers, and a restaurant with innovative, healthy and affordable food. I loved that it was operated by local Guatemalans, instead of young backpackers who are there for a free bed and to party amongst themselves. If you go, be sure to look for Paula's flyer for weaving workshops on their billboard - a highlight of my time in San Juan. Thanks Mayachik for a great stay and supporting individual artisans!

Mayachik is an excellent place to unwind, relax, and disconnect. They have excellent food, comfortable facilities, and lots of sweet animals. They have a kitchen for your use as well. It’s a quiet and peaceful place to be.

Such a beautiful location! A hidden gem for people interested in coming to the Atitlan region, but do not want to stay in an area too touristy. We LOVED the town of San Juan, which was filled with local artisans who seemed genuinely interested in sharing their crafts with us. The hotel itself was a perfect blend of relaxation and nature, without feeling too rustic.

One of the few worthwhile hostels in the area. Definitely a jungle feel, which I enjoyed. Strong internet, tasty restaurant, sustainability efforts, great people, and comfortable beds. The big drawback for me was a lack of consistent hot water, and parking a vehicle in their small lot was a bit tricky.

Stayed at Mayachik in Jan 2020 with my husband and adult daughter. Lodge was like a large cabin, with electricity and shower and a compost toilet. But it did not smell cabin was comfortable and large. Would have been nice to have a electric tea kettle....but they offer a self serve kitchen, pretty rustic, think camping! Mayachik also has a great vegetarian restaurant, everything is homemade, delicious! You can easily walk to town day or night, to shop or to a cafe, very safe. Great staff!!

Had a nice stay here, with a really great beach club with a free shuttle! Very quiet hostel however a quick walk into the town. Not many activities in the evening but on our last night there was an excellent live music night (Lola).

Only big point of critique I have concerns service: staff was very friendly, but please keep in mind that guests always come first. So no bringing buddies to the sauna when a guest is in there, no doing other business and taking time when someone is waiting to pay or needs a shuttle etc. This is a general Central American problem, but I saw it a lot here and I think it can be improved easily.

    Very Good

Great place to stay at, out of the center. Rooms are clean and nice. If your intentions are to book a hike with them, I would recommend going elsewhere. We woke up at 3am and waited for an hour outside and the guide they booked us with to do the Indian nose never came.
