Property Description

EcoLodge Kasaguadua, a lodge within a small jungle, offers Breakfast, towels, Cable TV, WiFi, hot water and earth-soap (included in the price). This accommodation is closer to a "glamping" experience (glamorous camping) than a normal hostel: don't expect shining modern facilities; minimum negative impact on the surrounding jungle is our focus. Use of the kitchen facilities is available or you can reserve your meal when we cook. There are plenty of activities to do around the Nature Reserve. You could join a guided tour on the short trail, take a walk around any of the 3 additional trails through different areas of Kasaguadua, walking through the river, the creek, the old remains of a coffee plantation and the Guadua bush (native bamboo). Do remember that you will need to walk 15 minutes down a path through the jungle to get to the lodge. The path is not suitable for wheely bags.

LOCATION: EcoLodge Kasaguadua is located in Salento, a typical small coffee-belt town, famous for the Cocora valley and its wax palms, our national tree. The Lodge area is based in the heart of the reserve, at 1750 masl, and it's accessible by walking down through our jungle for 20 minutes from the front gate. We're 2.6km away from Salento (40 minutes walk). Nearby you can visit four typical coffee farms with tours available in English. In Salento you can enjoy the typical trout and the Colombian countryside pass-time of 'Tejo', over a few cold beers, or go for a horseback ride to any of the surrounding areas, the Quindio river or the Santa Rita cascade.

Fantastic inspiring and rejuvenating few days staying with Carlos at his EcoHouse. It felt a privilege to share his home and learn about the history of and vision for the place. Sleeping in the pod was magical and comfortable with the jungle sounds all around. The main house is beautifully thought out with all creature comforts yet still aiming to minimise negative impact on the jungle. We took the walking tour and learnt a huge amount about the history and ecology of the area. Would recommend

Kasaguadua is a really cool place to stay. It's secluded 750 m within a nature reserve, so be sure you're physically up to getting yourself and your stuff to the lodge. Once you're there, the facility is really impressive. The pods of bamboo blend beautifully into the jungle, and all the amenities you could want are available. Carlos and Willy are very welcoming (as long as you arrive after 2 PM, the stated check-in time). I strongly recommend you take the tour of the property as well.

We had a wonderful time with Carlos, Nicolas and Yasmine the cat!!! They are amazing and assisted us with booking our trip through Colombia. If you like some kind of adventure, I would recommend 100%. We stayed in one of the pods designed for 2 people. The place is very clean and the food is delicious. Make sure you arrive in daylight (before 6 PM). When you enter the reservoir you have to walk through the jungle for around 15min before you reach the lodge, but it is all worth it! 👌🏽

This place is fascinating and extremely relaxing. Nick and Carlos are doing an amazing job understanding and working with the jungle and hearing them talk about it with such passion was inspiring. Stay here if you love nature, adventure and relaxation in the wild. Not suitable for those wanting city life on their doorstep.

As soon as I entered the Ecolodge, I felt this place was unique. A real haven of peace. Carlos & Nicholas are beautiful people, attentive and willing to share opinions and stories with their guests. The project they've worked on for several years, which is much more than offering an environmentally friendly accommodation, is admirable. It's the result of a meaningful reflection they've had about their relation to their environment, and I found their attitude toward nature very inspiring.

I could not recommend Kasaguadua more to those who seek a tranquil, enlightened, and educational experience near Salento. Remote enough to make you truly feel in the wild while close enough to make getting in and out relatively easy, the EcoLodge is comfortable and communal. Nick and Carlos are liberal with sharing their beautiful philosophies, their knowledge, their wisdom, and their time. Meals and mornings with them made an already fantastic experience even better.

Kasaguadua is absolutely incredible and a destination all on its own. Salento is very close by, but it was hard to tear myself away from the lodge to go explore the coffee farms and valle de Cócora. The only thing is that it's truly a trek from the gate to the lodge so be Prepared, getting back up to the road can be rather tough, but is a beautiful hike. 10 out of 10 will return and highly recommend to all.

Amazing hostel in an extremely beautiful location. The place is unlike anywhere I've ever been, involving a 15 minute walk right through the jungle. The two hosts are very accommodating and the rooms are comfy

    Very Good

    27 Dec 2018
The hostel is tucked away in the middle of a thick forest - count 15-20min walking from the road. The pods are very rustic and basic, some more are in construction. Bring your food and drinks because you can’t buy anything. Good book exchange option and board games. William was very friendly, though we felt the place lacked some atmosphere. It gets quite cold at night. Very little information available on the concept of the eco lodge (probably more if you take the extra tour for 25k).
