For a backpacker like me staying at El Albergue Espanol was perfect. It is centrally located so pretty much everything is within walking distance from the hostel. You may not have hot shower 24/7 but be happy to have a chance to take a shower at all. So if you need a place to crash in Arequipa look no further. I would say definitely value for money.

We loved this hostel. Great location, really cool rooms with each one having access to the terrace. Beautiful old building. Beds comfortable and everything very clean. Such good value for money

My boyfriend and I only stayed here for a night but we enjoyed it a lot. The room was comfortable and private, with pretty French doors. A bit noisy at night but that’s what you get if you’re staying in the center of town, and it wasn’t so bad that I couldn’t sleep (and I’m a light sleeper). The bathrooms are clean, the WiFi is fine, and the beers are cheap. For the price, you really can’t beat it.

You get what you pay for here. I stayed 2 nights. A solo female traveler. The showers only have hot water during certain hours of the day because it's heated with solar so plan accordingly. My private room was exactly what I needed. Clean. Comfortable bed. Wonderful down comforter. Rooftop room. The street below has an active nightlife so it was noisy. Great location. Only a few blocks, 5mins walk through shops to get to the central plaza. Front desk sells water and cheap bottles of beer.

Great deal for a private room but not much of an atmosphere if you want to meet anyone else.

For the price, you can’t expect much. But the WiFi was extremely hit and miss, and you can only shower 11-3 if you want lukewarm water, otherwise it is pretty cold. Granted this was in february. So, good deal for how cheap it is, I would have given it 10 if it wasn’t for terrible WiFi.

Great location and rooms were clean and beds were comfortable. Staff don't speak great English, which was fine but there was one guy who wasn't very helpful in trying to help us understand what he was saying, just repeating over and over again. Showers were cold too, luke warm at best. Booked Colca Canyon tour through the hostel which wasn't a great tour.

Stayed two nights at this hostel and regretted booking it after an hour there. Freezing cold showers. The room was in desperate need of a dust, and has peeling walls that leave flakes all over the floor and your belongings. There’s a noisy bar right next door that plays pounding music at night and people talking loudly in the courtyard area at 4am so don’t expect to sleep much. Bedding was really torn and exposing a very dirty looking duvet. Not worth the money, book elsewhere!

BEDBUGS- the worst hostel we have stayed in throughout our trip in Peru. Both myself and the person I was staying with got multiple bedbug bites after staying here, we raised the issue with the staff showing them the bites who’s response was ‘well we cleaned the room’. The room had no flooring the cracked concrete floor from outside simply continued. The walls were dirty, the bedsheets ripped. There was only hot water between 11-5pm and the WiFi did not work on the top floor where our room was.
