Great hostel if you want a quite/calm atmosphere. It has some cool art and a rooftop terrace. The beds are pretty comfy and enough space in the room. The only thing is that they don’t have tours or activities that they plan with the people staying at the hostel(unless there’s some holiday). If you’re looking to go out to party or do a day trip, this might not be the right place. But besides that, it’s a cool hostel in a good location

We loved our stay at El Mexa! The manager and other staff were really kind, patient, helpful, and fun to talk to. The accommodation was comfortable and we loved the location...very walkable to plazas and sites and across the street from a gorgeous historic building. We would definitely stay here again! Only suggestion might be for the hostel to arrange social activities some evenings.

This was a great hostel hot shower, decent WiFi, cute patios to hang out in the staff was great even though I was the only one they still gave me breakfast. Obviously the atmosphere wasn’t like it could be do to this whole pandemic. Great potential, location and value!

My stay at El Mexa was great and location is very close to the city center. The staff and breakfast are awesome but the atmosphere was lacking.

The hostal looks great and has a nice atmosphere. The rooftop is great and the owner very nice. Besides that were the rooms and showers pretty basic, but clean!

This is a great place in a great location. Staff is superbly friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend Mexa! A bit of constructive criticism including my pet peeves about many hostals... - I like curtains on the bed for a bit of privacy. - Add a few more hooks near beds and bathrooms. - You probably can't do anything about this, but the bathroom stalls are so small that you can't bend over to pull your pants up!

    Very Good

Well the rooms are compfy. But the problem with all the hostels is Mexico is they run them like homeless shelters and hotels . Rather then a social and cultural setting like a hostel is meant to be like. The staff do not educate themselves in the international hostelworld language which unfortuntly is English. 8 in 10 hostel stayers world wide speak english. And it's just awful to see how shut off mexicans are with trying there foods at all when this is what they r famed for. The city is sketchy

Great location. Several issues; staff moved my Mac cord without permission and placed in my soap bag. Hostel is not social distancing, tried to stick someone right next to me, far less than 6ft away. The door system is ridiculous, at night you have to ring bell and wait for staff to get out of bed. Stupendous hassle to run early in the morning. Also homeless people and guys washing cars for tips come and go essentially freely in the hostel.
