El misti was a great hostel in my opinion. Always cleaning and they are clearly spending money on it to modernise the place. Staff are very friendly and helpful. I’d happily stay again if I’m in Rio.

Loved my time at El Misti Rio - the staff were amazing, so friendly and welcoming, always up for a chat. Shout out to João and Lele especially for their hospitality! As soon as you walk in you’re made to feel a part of El Misti and you’ll instantly soak in a good vibe and atmosphere, no matter what day or night of the week. I, for one, felt super at home, so much so that I stayed and volunteered here at the hostel for a month longer than I planned to stay! Definitely would recommend!

A superb hostel in a great location close to Copacabana beach. It has a nice kitchen, bar, and areas to socialise. The rooms are clean and tidy with good sized lockers under the bed. Would stay here again. Big shout out to João who was amazing and helped us with everything we could possibly ask for.

Photo doesn't match the hostel!! It's very dirty and the staff are volunteers, so not very helpful. A Windows was broken to put the air con pipe outside! The toilets and showers are very dirty and with no lockers!

Be nice to you and go somewhere else! Despite an excellent location, unless you are not planning to actually sleep and rest there, do not even think about booking this hostel. Found people dancing with loud electro music already in the middle of the afternoon by the reception area while the receptionist is asleep/high as well. All are on drug in this place. Cleanliness is out of this world. Please, be nice to you and avoid at all cost. I Walked away after 5 minutes !!!! Bye and never ever again

No electricity for 2 days during our stay , which didn’t seam to bother anyone from the hostel management that took ages to get it fixed , when we did have electricity they didn’t turn on the ac which made the room hit like hell and impossible to sleep in , they would turn of the ac in the morning and that would cause us to wake up soaked in our sweat after just 3-4 hours of sleep ( it was that bad)hostel rules says that after 22:00 it’s quiet time and that you should respect sleep, people don’t
