For travellers looking to soak up the sun on Copacabana beach, El Misti House is in a great location. Just four blocks from the beach, it's also only one block from Siqueira Campos metro station connecting to the rest of central Rio. Guests say this hostel has a 'pleasant, fun, friendly atmosphere...created by the great staff', who provide cheap beer and nightly dinners, described by our users as 'tasty and all-you-can-eat'. We like their breakfast, which includes varieties of fresh fruit, cheese, ham and pancakes.

The staff is what makes this place so awesome, I wasn't in love with the bathrooms they were kinda small and everyone shares them, but the guy who cleans them cleans them like 3 times a day. Plus he's super nice too! I would stay here again. Great great people

The location is great. A few blocks from Copacabana beach and an easy walk to Ipanema. There are several bathrooms on each floor of the hostel and they are pretty clean I 100% recommend finding Alice to go on the daily hiking tours. They are amazing. Also, shoutout to Jorti at the front desk

Some really good and bad from this hostel. Bad first, hot water was spotty as hell. It is a fairly loud hostel with people coming and going all the time. And the doors don’t lock to rooms. The good. The staff are incredible and do everything to make your stay enjoyable. We went out to party on a cpl of occasions. They are a blast. Rooms are good. Wifi is good. And the atmosphere is great. I enjoyed my stay and would stay again.

The staff is really nice, liked to hang out with them, and also any time when I needed help they were always the first to be there for me! The atmosphere is amazing! many backpackers from all around the world! The hostel has the best location, mostly in a safety area! The only problem what I could mention is that during my stay they have some problems with the wifi so I could not use it that much!

All round okay hostel here are the good and bad points. 👍 brilliant location- 1 block from metro and 10 mins to copacanaba Staff were always very friendly and helpful Beds comfortable and good a/c 👎 - no locks on doors - no rails on top bunk so felt like I was gonna fall out all night - a few of the bathrooms were a good size but most were small and cramped -social area too small for size of hostel -10pm quite area not enforced - WiFi was awful Only worked in reception early morning/night

    Good

So... the staff were very nice and friendly, particularly Alice and Jordi. They were very welcoming and have great energy. But the hostel was generally very dirty and smelly, the showers and toilet would regularly not work or just have cold water. The location was average at best. So overall I wouldn’t recommend. However, i moved to El Misti Ipanema and on first arrival there was such contrast in cleanliness and atmosphere. So El Misti Copacabana needs to up its game and sort out its plumbing.

Location of the hostel were really good to go somewhere in the city center. There was no wifi in the rooms and there is no window in my room so I could not breathe well durimg the night. The number of bathroom is really poor for the whole population in the hostel. Thank you.

Don't know where to start. No keys either at the entrance or at the rooms.Booked for 4-bed room, got 6-bed room.3-beds over and over, very small area, only to sleep. No shelf or anything other than a plug. Bunks make noise. Siphons don't work properly. The door of shower was nowhere to be seen, don't know why. Horrible wifi very slow.If you work online or anything like me,you aren't in luck.I didn't know what kind of people staying here but if you want to have a good time, go somewhere else. Staff+++

El Misti House says

We have a lot of little extras, like our free welcome drink, the coffee and cake we have every afternoon, the nightly dinners and our multicultural staff. I think our superb open breakfast and cool atmosphere makes us pretty unique. For fun, our guests generally enjoy the bar on the weekends; they meet each other after dinner and go out all together in groups.
We're in an unmatched location in the middle of Copacabana, just half a block from the metro and three blocks from Rio's gorgeous beaches. We're close to a lot of the main attractions as well, like Ipanema Beach, Sugar Loaf and Christ the Redeemer. For live music I personally recommend Democratricos Samba Social Club, and I think Carretão Churrascaria is a great place to have dinner. Daniel, Owner
