Property Description

We are a hostel, yes, but we are more than that. We are the neighborhood (barrio) of Santiago, we are in the oldest historical area in Mérida and we like taking care of it. We like stepping out for fresh air (“tomar el fresco”) and drinking good coffee, we are the Tuesdays of trova and Polito’s ice creams. We like shopping and dining in the market, we like the park and the “marquesitas”; it’s art galleries and concerts, we like walking and biking. We like barbecuing in the hostel’s roof, and the parties in our bar. We like jazz and meeting people from all over the world, we like waving to the neighbors and taking our nap (tomar la siesta); we are travelers, not tourists, we are inclusive and friends, we are free. We celebrate being able to enjoy every second, every note, every beer and every conversation.
Yes, this is a hostel, but it’s so much more. It’s an open space of friends, travelers, locals and foreigners.

We may be from anywhere around the world, but now we are from the Barrio of Santiago. View House Rules

This hostel is very pretty! Reception was very friendly and gave me good advice of what to see and where to eat. Bed was comfy, room clean and there is fan and aircon option, which is great because Mérida is very hot! I stayed for only 1 night but would've loved to stay longer. I do recommend this hostel!

I really enjoyed my stay and the people I met there. The hostel is very clean and well kept and the room had AC and a fan. The kitchen is nice and big and they offer coffee. The wifi worked well throughout the hostel and the terasse is really chill. It is a bit further out, 15 min walk to the center but still in a nice area with a parc and marker close by.

El Tigre de Santiago was a very nice and quit hostel. Absolutely what I needed. It is not to far away from the center but super quiet. Finally I could get some sleep.

Nice hostel, a bit outside the centre and far from the buses and market. The hostel is clean and pretty and the staff are nice. Our room was good but quite expensive we’d recommend an room at la Ermita instead which is closer and has a pool.

We only stayed here for 1 night to catch a bus early next morning, but the hostel overall looked great! Didn’t see much of the amenities but the airco in the room was really nice. They could improve a bit more on creating an open atmosphere however the staff were really lovely!

The bed is good. There is A/C and fans. Locker is enough for your things, but not the whole bag (farpoint 40). kitchen is well equipped and there is coffee in the Morning. Wifi worked well in the room. Shower was good in room 12. Overall it was a good spot. It has massive potential to meet people, but it seemed like the only people there were living there. Thay video call their girlfriends till midnight and again at 630am. We dont travel to sleep though, so wake up with your roomies and enjoy

    Very Good

    16 May 2022
The hostel itself was okay, the dorm rooms were clean overall but you had to wait a little before you could shower because of rust. It was alright and the terrace on the roof was nice too. Staff was very friendly but the opening times of the bureau were quite short and not very handy (9am - 8pm)
