It gets our thumbs up for consistently high guest reviews.

Hostelworld says

Euro Youth Hostel is located next to the Hauptbahnhof and features comfy rooms, large, clean bathrooms and modern security. Hostelworld guests say it 'has quite a homely feel despite being a large hostel' and plenty of character and that they'd stay here again. The bar is 'a great place to meet people and have some good conversations, which is appreciated since I was travelling alone', said one visitor. We like the privacy curtains on the bunk beds.

Property Description

Let’s Go’s favourite Munich Hostel for ten years running! They said: 'informed staff, cheerful rooms and a busy bar make this Munich's best hostel.'

Lonely Planet wrote : ‘Housed in one of the few buildings around the Hauptbahnhof to survive WWII, this atmospheric hostel-hotel oozes history with every dangling chandelier and creaky staircase. The bar is a delightful haunt, and the €2,50-a-drink happy hour (4:30pm to 8:30pm) is understandably popular. Despite having 200 beds spread over 58 well-kept rooms, this place is often full, so book ahead’.

We’re located just 100m from the main train station and within easy walking distance of most of Munich's most central sights (Marienplatz, Residenz and co). The main station is also the local transport hub and therefore provides excellent access to suburban sights (BMW, Allianz arena, Nymphenburg) as well as regional sights (Neuschwanstein castle, Alps, Salzburg etc).
The hostel is housed in an historic building, one of only very few buildings in the vicinity of the main train station to have survived WWII fully intact. Built in the late 19th century, it was originally one of Munich’s very first luxury hotels (the Astoria).

We have FREE high-speed Wi-Fi in all rooms (up to 400Mb/s), FREE internet terminals, FREE walking tours, FREE city maps, FREE lockers and FREE luggage storage. Our staff will be delighted to answer any questions you have about Munich and give advice on restaurants, nightlife etc.

You can enjoy the privacy of a single or double room, or make friends in one of the small or large dorms. Bed linen is included and the beds are made for you.
Please note that we only accept guests between the ages of 18 and 35 in the 12-bed dorm.
Every room (other than the 10/12 bed dorms) is equipped with its own wash-basin. The showers and toilets are either to be found inside the rooms or close-by in the corridor. (The bathroom for the 12 bed rooms is down one flight of stairs .. ca 20 secs walk).

Please note that the breakfast is not included in the price of your booking. The fill-your-boots all-you-can-eat continental breakfast buffet (now including scrambled eggs !) is available from 7am to 11am for a bargain €4.90.
Please also note: we do not have a guest kitchen. We’d like to but local Health and Safety laws make it impossible. We do, however, have supermarkets and cheap restaurants all around us which we'll be happy to point you in the direction of. We do offer free tea and a microwave.

We’re one of Europe's Famous Hostels, with a bar selling Munich's best beer (and that's saying something) from only €2,70 during our Happy Hours, which run from 4:30pm to 8:30pm. We also serve dangerously cheap cocktails and Jaegerbombs. Our large-screen TV shows all major sporting events, including US sports, Champions League, EPL and all games of Bayern Munich.

There are also discounts on pub crawls and bike tours. We have cheap laundry facilities plus board games and a book exchange.
Please read our ‘Things to Note’ below before booking… especially the info about when we charge your card and making sure that it is valid on the day arrival.

We look forward to seeing you in Munich ! View House Rules

Fancy staying in a former luxury hotel, complete with a glamorous chandelier? Book with us at Euro Youth Hostel. Bag yourself a seat in our bar, where you can try Munich's famous beer during our epic four-hour-long daily happy hours. You can catch the top sports games, including the Champions League, EPL and all Bayern Munich matches, on the big-screen TVs while you're sipping a stein. There's free Wi-Fi for sending messages home when your team wins!

Our 19th-century building is one of the only pre-World War II buildings left in the historic – and central – Hauptbahnhof area of Munich. We're 100 metres from the main train station and a short walk from sights like the central Marienplatz square. You can head out of the city to the fairytale-like Nymphenburg Palace (about 30 minutes by train) or even further over the border to Austria to gorgeous Salzburg (under two hours by train) – just remember that passport if you're ticking off two countries in one day!

Rooms and Dorms

Get some privacy on a budget in a big or small dorm with a curtain-lined bottom bunk featuring its own reading light and wall plug. The handmade wooden beds are ready with free sheets and you can hire a towel. Most dorms and single or double rooms have their own washbasins, with showers and toilets in the next room, or just outside.

Extras and activities

Stick your bag into a locker – or leave it in the luggage storage if you're checking in early – and get stuck into the board and Wii games in the common room. You're bound to meet someone who can give you tips on what to see, or even help you navigate with our free city maps. All-you-can-eat breakfast, including scrambled eggs, is available at a bargain price, and you can grab ready meals at the local supermarket to warm up in the microwave.

My friend and I stayed in a dorm with 12 beds. The room is very comfortable and clean same goes with the toilet. The atmosphere is nice and other travelers in the room are also very friendly. For a hostel that has a good location, the price is very cheap. The staff is kind and helpful. Will definitely stay here again if we come to munich next time.

This was a very nice hostel. Rooms were big so even in a 5 person dorm there was plenty of space. Bathrooms were clean. Beds comfortable. I was on the first floor and had no issues with noise from the bar. The bar was a great place to meet people. Only wish they had a kitchen. But the breakfast was a good value. Over all a nice place to stay.

The location was just perfect. The staff was friendly and helpful. The only thing I didn't like was the fact that I had to pay for towels (which was not the case in the other hostels I stayed). Overall, I enjoyed my stay and recommend this hostel.

Overall a good hostel, and enjoyed myself around the city. The only problem is that I didn't feel that it was the best place for lone backpackers, as there wasn't great opportunities to meet, other than in the bar, like a common room, pub crawls events, events in the hostel, ect. Havan't said that, staff are extremely friendly, clean hostel, and a nice bar with great long happy hour(s)! Good hostel to stay and recommend if going with some friends.

Decent hostel close to the central train station (and like a 10-15min walk to the main Marienplatz). I stayed only one night but enjoyed it while I was there. It's a good hostel overall, although a bit old and so not the cleanest (esp the showers). It's got its own bar where you can mingle with other travelers, too, which is a big plus!

Euro Youth Hostel says

Aside from our perfect location (right next to the station and the old town), I think the best things about the hostel are the staff who are bursting to help you and the historic building which drips character from its chandeliers and yet has all the modern comforts (e.g. free fast Wi-Fi in all areas). The busy bar (probably the cheapest in Munich) is also a great place to meet like-minded people from all over the world.
Munich is a fantastic place in all seasons and, aside from obvious attractions such as the beer gardens, parks, football, galleries and museums, I'd recommend to everyone to stay at least one day more and go out to the nearby lakes and mountains only 40 minutes away.
The majority of guests are aged 20 - 35 but everyone is welcome. Visitors come from all over the earth and couples are catered to just as well as single travelers and small groups. In fact, it is the cosmopolitan and diverse nature of the guests and staff coupled with the faintly grand Bavarian setting that, I think, makes the hostel very special. Andy, Manager
