Even cooler, since opening in 2013, we've become the largest hostel in the whole of Texas. Our attached Firehouse Lounge is a great place to meet people, sip on handcrafted cocktails or locally brewed beers, and enjoy live music. And the morning after, we'll make sure you're treated to a wholesome free breakfast.

If you're here for sightseeing, it'll take you just over 10 minutes to walk to the Texas State Capitol building or the Colorado River.

Rooms and Dorms

I’ve stayed at this hostel three times, and nothing beats the location. It’s close to everything you need, including the awesome night life on Sixth Street and the great sights the city has to offer. The hostel also has a very chill and welcoming bar downstairs too! Jared on the front desk is really knowledgeable and a great guy to chat with. Quincy in the bar is also a legend too! Thanks for another great stay.

We had a private 4 person room with an en-suite bathroom. The room was surprisingly big and comfortable and the bathroom was huge, almost as big as the room itself. Everything was clean and the staff were amazing greeting us with a free beer. The breakfast was simple but nice, and the building had a lot of great amenities. Would definitely recommend.

The Firehouse is a great spot to stay in Austin. It is right in the thick of the action just off 6th street. Easy walking distance to everything you need in Austin. All the facilities were spot on, dorm beds were big and comfortable, has a great kitchen with board games to play if you need a night off. We loved Austin and staying here had a lot to do with it

Awesome all round. Only criticism is I like hostels that have like pub crawls they run or have common rooms you can all pre drink in. A list of cool pubs and why you can do there etc would be helpful. Otherwise great plce

The location was extremely convenient! The staffs were super nice and helpful! The bathroom was not very convenient because there were not enough hooks to hang up the stuff. And there was one shower curtain that was missing at the third floor. Breakfast was basic. If there were more choices, it would be better!

For the most part, I enjoyed my stayed at the hostel. The only exception was when I was sharing a room with one other female and then a second male join. I didn't have any issue with that but the fellow just seemed really sketchy. When both of us were in bed...he was literally sitting between us for a bit too long to be comfortable. Anyhow...we were out of the of the time so that didn't really matter too much to be of any concerned.

I enjoyed my stay at Firehouse for 3 nights. It was perfectly centrally located in downtown Austin. Yes, there are homeless people on the block; they’re all over downtown, but don’t bother you. A cold beer at check-in was nice. The staff was helpful with restaurant recommendations and research, and very accommodating when my roommate in a 4-bed room was odiferous. They moved me... to a private room, which wasn’t necessary, and very nice. The bar was cool, though I missed it during busy HH.

I wouldn’t stay here again. The beds really weren’t that comfortable. The bar downstairs has a weird vibe. The showers weren’t clean. If I were to do it again I’d try another hostel in Austin. The best part of this place is that it’s right around the corner from 6th street with a ton of bars.
