It was a very interesting experience, a beautiful place with lots of history. Very simple, small, old school, rustic design. The added details make it a whole experiment of its own (like the hidden bookshelf bar..ect) Staff was friendly. It’s close to everything downtown, 6th and buslines, which makes getting anywhere super simple and convenient including out door activities. The only thing is that its super expensive. I would only stay here if you’ll be primarily in the downtown area

One of the friendliest hostels I've stayed in. The staff were mega helpful. The location is very central to all the night life and an easy bus ride or uber from the airport.

I can't say enough great things about my time at Firehouse! From the welcoming staff to the other residents, everyone was incredibly friendly and open to conversations. The location is right in the middle of bar scene and has multiple bus stops within walking distance if you're relying on public transportation during your stay in Austin. There is also a bar downstairs that has some amazing drinks. It can get a little loud on weekend nights but nothing too crazy.

If you’re looking for a fancy place that’s quiet, clean and has five star service, then stay at the Driskell next door. If you want a place to party and meet people from around the world, then stay here. It’s literally one block off of 6th street where all the action is. The staff is friendly and it has a really cool speak easy bar downstairs. If you’re in your mid to late 30’s and have already had your fun, you’ll be a little out of place, but It’s fun and it has a good vibe there.

Honestly one of the best hostels I’ve visited. It’s location is steps away from the infamous “Dirty 6th street”, the hostel staff was awesome (Mark and Ashley, showed me around town when they weren’t working and came out for drinks). This hostel is definitely more of a “party hostel”. So if you’re looking for a good place to party and meet awesome people I HIGHLY recommend Firehouse!

Lovely little hostel in a great location - a stones throw from party-central 6th street. The atmosphere was amazing - myself and my partner made some great friends in our three days there. The only negative was maybe the shower pressure BUT the pros far outway the cons.

Perfect location, basic rooms are pretty basic. Not too much value for money in terms of facilities but the location could not be better. Kitchen is small, breakfast is cereal coffee and bagels with cream cheese. They give free beer at checkin and staff is very nice and helpful. There’s a club inside the hostel in the first place which makes it perfect. I would definitely stay again, but would do some price benchmarking first. Maybe considering upgrading to one of their nicer rooms. Tax is 17%

I really liked the bunk beds in the rooms and I liked that men and women each had their own restrooms. But the showers in the women's were pretty gross. It looked like mold around the bottom of the showers and the shower curtains definitely need replaced. In my room, there was a lot of dust and you can tell that the windows/window sills/corner of floors never get cleaned. Still a cute place. I do wish there was other lounge areas besides the hallways for when the bar lounge area doesn't open yet

It was too loud for me to sleep but the staff was just amazing and refunded me the second night so I could move hostel. Definitely recommend if you want to party but maybe less so if you need to catch up with some sleep
