In fact, the New York Times even wrote an article on our upcoming neighbourhood in 2016! However, if you don't feel comfortable staying in this area, feel free to book somewhere else.

If this isn't a problem, you'll discover many upsides to our location:

And - we promise - you'll find the best international food in our neighbourhood!

    Superb

The hostel was good. All the reviews mention the district, and that it feels unsafe, but I haven't yet read a review where someone said something actually happened to them. For me, it was fine to walk through the streets. However, I am disappointed by the hostel's response of saying it's 'entertaining', because we're talking about the lives of some very desperate and poor people on these streets, like d**g addicts and pr******s, and I think it's a bit disrespectful to see it as 'entertainment'

Hey, this has been probably the bests hostel I have stayed in. The staff was very friendly and helpful, the breakfast was great, they even treat us with a free dinner one night. Something happen with the room I booked for me and my boyfriend and they upgrade the room because of the misunderstanding.

Very friendly staff and good facilities. Our room was clean and the bathrooms/showers were great. As mentioned in the description, the hostel is located in the red light district, which means that the streets can be a little shady at night, but we always felt safe regardless! The little terrace was very much appreciated on the hot summer days!

    Fabulous

If you are not fan of big cities who would not mind seeing 'other' parts of the beauty, the location would not be a problem for you. But otherwise, you should keep it in mind that this hostel is located in one of the hottest spot for nightlife in Frankfurt and would welcome any type of adventure (be it bad or good). Other than its location, I would give my bests for this place as a keen backpacker. The stuff is so friendly and ready to help you out.

    Fabulous

The Hostel is great. It's clean, the beds are comfortable, they give you clean linen, the lockers are big (I had a really big bag and a backpack and both of them fit in) the bathroom is also clean with hot water for showering, the attention is great and it's not expensive. The only two things that I disliked or didn't enjoy that much was the ambience and the location. Once you leave the Hauptbahnhoff what you see is not nice (and this is coming from someone from a south american country)

practical location close to central station, and cheap, but also in the red light district with hookers and drug dealers approaching you just around the corner, and incidentally a street fight with throwing bottles just when I arrived around 9pm - looks worse than anywhere else I've been to, but I'm pretty sure I was NOT actually in any danger

    Good

    05 Mar 2020
Decent hostel—not the worst, not the best. Staff was straight-forward and gave a brief tour of the building, but not much else. I loved the room—we had tiny enclosed beds with curtains and they felt very private. The only thing was that my bed had somewhat of a weird smell that came through even the sheets and stuck to my clothing. There wasn't too much of a communal space, and I rarely saw people in the kitchen. Showers were okay, and the bathrooms weren't insanely dirty but I wasn't impressed.

    Good

Good location if you need to be right next to the main train station. Helpful staff. Nice, included breakfast. Rooms very dreary and gloomy. No curtains on the beds and the bunks are so rickety that if you have to climb to the top bunk the whole thing feels like it's going to tip over. Not much atmosphere. It's the only hostel in Frankfurt I've ever stayed at, so I have no basis for comparison.

Five Elements Hostel Frankfurt says

I'd say our most unique feature is that our staff love the hostel and our guests so much that they end up spending lots of their free time at the hostel! There's always someone you can talk to here. Really, our staff have been called the most friendly staff in Germany. There's free activities every night, plus billiards, a bar and a backyard.
We're quite close to the main station. We've quite close to the Main River, the museums, the botanical gardens and shopping malls. The one local place that I'd definitely recommend is the Äppelwoi pub quarter in Sachsenhausen. It's full of small unique stores, bars and restaurants. We like it so much that we offer a free pub crawl through Sachsenhausen once a week.
No matter if you come to explore the city and the beautiful area around Frankfurt, or just stop over flying in or out via Germany's biggest airport, we are happy to be your home away from home. Sarah, Manager
