Property Description

Free Cerveza is a fun glamping hostel located right on the beautiful shores of Lake Atitlan. Our awesome lakefront property overlooks 3 of Central America’s most famous volcanoes - San Pedro, Atitlan and Toliman.

In order to provide and maintain our summer camp vibe, each guest will be charged 33Q per night so that you can enjoy unlimited use of Free Cerveza’s activities and equipment. You can sunbathe and swim off of our private docks, enjoy unlimited use of our stand up paddle boards and tubes, take out our kayaks for a little adventure, get moving with free yoga classes, or hang out in our steamy sauna for an afternoon. We also run a bunch of fun activities including guided hikes and paddle board tours for your enjoyment. We’re basically a summer camp for adults, just with some added cervezas. And yes, wifi is included although we promise, you will find a better connection with the people and the atmosphere.

We have a bar fully stocked with all of your favourite alcoholic (and non-alcoholic) beverages, a full breakfast and lunch menu prepared by our gourmet Mayan chefs, and our famous family style 3 course dinner with free beer (of course!).

We offer private and shared glamps (up to 4 people), or private and shared treehouse rooms overlooking the lake and the valley. Each glamp and treehouse room is fully set up with electrical power and cozy blankets.

In a mission to protect our beautiful environment, the owners built this property with love, using eco-friendly materials and technology such as compost toilets, recycled wood and glass bottles, and LED lighting.

Free Cerveza is located in Santa Cruz la Laguna on the northern shore of Lake Atitlán, only a 10 minute boat ride from the main dock at Panajachel. You can even ask for the driver to drop you off directly on our private dock!

Valid Passport is required at Check-In. Check-in is at 2pm and check out is at 11am.
Glamping is only reserved for guests 18+ and has a fun, youthful vibe.

Amazing location on Lake Atitlan. Staff are wonderful, and there is lots to do if you're into swimming, stand up paddle boarding, kayaking, yoga, even hiking to the neighboring towns. The food was great and you get free beer from 5-7pm! I loved the atmosphere, and beersbee was a ton of fun. There is even a sauna available for use. I will be returning for sure!

What an amazing place! Location is right on the lake front and super beautiful, especially during the sunrise paddle board tour. Definitely a highlight to our trip. At first we were slightly apprehensive to come here as we had heard rumours of bed bugs from other travellers but we’d also been told by multiple people what a great hostel it was so we risked it. Sleeping in the tree house dorm there were no bed bugs. The staff were great and really helpful. Thank you Free Cerveza we will be back!

This was a unique and fun property to stay at on Lake Atitlan. There was construction when we were there so it was a bit noisy in the morning, but the staff worked hard to accommodate the guests and ensure they were comfortable while the roof was repaired. The food was good and it was a cool eco-lodge experience. One criticism would be that I wish they had proper tables and chairs in the common area rather than low ones where you have to sit on the floor. Would recommend to others though!

    Very Good

The place is amazing with beautiful views. I think food is far overpriced for what it is (mainly breakfast) which is clever since there are no other options. Water activities are fun however activities supported by the hostel were a mess around. I think if you promote activities to other villages then you should ensure people have a safe way to return home. I was stranded in another village for the night after a boat party that was meant to take me home. Staff are a delight, hard beds were not x

    - great staff and volunteers - No warm showers - could use more games/activities (ping pong, board games, jenga, etc) - quite loud after “quite time”

Very overpriced and the staff do not know anything of the local area. If it is raining there is nothing to do so ensure you check the weather before. The lake itself is beautiful but I didn’t enjoy the forced feel of the hostel
