Freehand Miami is the hotel for today’s traveler — combining convenience (a 5-minute walk from Miami Beach, and less than 1 mile from the nightlife of South Beach) with modern comforts, like an outdoor terrace with a pool, two craft cocktail bars and a seasonal restaurant. It’s both an escape from the bustle of the strip and an ideal access point to the best of the city.

The property is close to many excellent Miami bars and clubs, and our tour desk will happily curate restaurant, bar, beach, and sightseeing recommendations for you. But there are also plenty of ways of enjoy yourself at the hotel itself — from the Broken Shaker, an award-winning specialty cocktail bar with an eclectic menu that utilizes spices and fresh-pressed produce, to 27, a market-driven, globally inspired restaurant serving shrimp dumplings with chile oil, and lamb ribs slicked with tangy pomegranate molasses. Programmed events are also offered in our tropical backyard terrace. Free WiFi is available property wide.

The property is 3 minutes’ drive from the Miami Beach Convention Center and 5 minutes’ drive from Miami Beach Botanical Garden. Lincoln Road Mall is 2 miles away.

The room was ok. I had the four beds room. Not very noisy at night. The only thing is the drainage pipe in shower was blocked. Nice front desk receptionists. Very nice atmosphere, has a drink bar. Plus the charge for deposit wasn’t explained very well. And make me feel like the credit card got abused. Hope they doing better and my continuous support for hostels. Plus as I remember the hostels did not charge any fee for booking but I don’t know this time it did.

This hostel is pretty good for what you pay for and located very close to the beach. This hostel does not offer breakfast but it provides the basics for your stay (linens/towels/storage). If you want a lock for your locker, you will have to purchase one as the hostel also does not provide locks. The pool area is pretty cool and might be a great place to meet other hostel guests!

    Very Good

The hostel was relatively clean, a few marks on the sheets but other than that all fine. The hostel itself is a strange vibe with people working in the community space during the day and the whole back area becomjng a restaurant during the evening for non-hostel people. So not a friendly fun hostel atmosphere but it does feel safe and is in a good location.

Nightlife was very fun at the broken shaker bar, but they didn’t have a kitchen or a washer/dryer. Very disappointed about the kitchen. Eating out is expensive in Miami!!

Freehand Miami was really nice! I stayed in a female dorm, that was kept pretty clean. The beach is only a couple blocks away and the area around the hostel is very safe. I was a little frustrated that the kitchen was closed, especially since I did not know ahead of time. I understand that the communal kitchen was closed due to COVID reasons, however, it would have been really helpful to have a mini fridge and a microwave in the dorm. It made buying groceries very difficult.

Stayed here because it was a cheaper option in South Beach, but after all the taxes and "resort" fees, even at $42 a night it wasn't really worth it. Between Freehand and Generator I much prefer Generator but Generator was going for $70 a night and that completely defeats the purpose of staying in a hostel... Freehand is just OK... it seems they put much more focus on the restaurant and bar than they do the hostel and it shows in the quality of rooms, which are in desperate need of a remodel

Pictures are of the reservation-only club and restaurant at the property, not of the hostel. It was disappointing to be honest.
