Property Description

My name is Galina Solovieva. For more than 16 years the doors of my flat are open for the travellers from all over the world. It is all started in 1994, when I've first met modern nomads at Yaroslavsky railway station, the Trans-Siberian terminus. Actually my flat has become the first and only one hostel in Moscow for many years. It is located in a historic neighborhood just in 20 minutes walk from Red Square and Kremlin. It is listed in many guide-books like Lonely Planet, Let's Go, Frommer's and so on.

Nowadays there are about 54 hostels in Moscow, but my place is different. Yes, it is just that - a private, basic Soviet-era flat with 2 rooms that I rent out. Hope, it gives you the rare opportunity to see inside a typical Russian home - indeed, to be welcomed in and to experience the life of a Muscovite. The close quarters also make it a good spot to hook up with other travellers. My place is a favorite with low budget backpackers of all ages looking for personal sightseeing advice, late-night chats over tea or beer or cheap beds for good sleep after long journey.

Just, please bear in mind two facts: my flat is on the 5th floor and there is no lift, and I do love cats, which means I do have cats. Well, you are very welcome to my place. See you in Moscow. Sincerely yours, Galina

Really nice owners of the loft. Location is hard to find, you have to enter an alleyway into a courtyard with entrances to multiple buildings, but google maps does have numbers for each building and her building is #8 (I had to ask locals to find it originally). Once you see the cats or the pigeons you are probably at the correct building. Room is what you would expect. The bathroom and shower have private door entrances so that's nice compared to most hostels. No curfew. Would recommend!

Excellent location, Galina is such a nice and kind host. The value for money is fair, but the location I would say is the best, close to the areas where things are happening.

    Very Good

Quite interesting place. Very affordable for the area, where all the buildings are getting renovated and turned into high class apartment or hotel. Galina's flat is somehow following the trend and, if it keeps its authentic flavors, has brand new restrooms and baths.

    Very Good

The location was very convenient, but at the beginning the building is a bit tricky to find. Once you get used to the area, there's no problem. The building and the house need to be renovated and improved, although you only stay there to sleep since there's a lot to do and see in the city. Galina and her husband were nice, and the cats didn't really disturb us. We think the price was a bit too much, but for being the world cup, it was expected.

Good place to rest your head, not a great place to meet people

Probably one of the worst places I’ve stayed in my life. Extremely hard to find, not very organised/clean. Has the basic amenities all functional, but beds are a 3cm thick mattress on wooden planks. The location is all right, but I’d recommend paying a little more and getting a more social and nice place for sure. Great if you’re broke and need shelter from the harsh weather.

I've never left a hostel before but the smell of cigarettes and cat piss that permeated through this place was enough to see me seek alternative options immediately.

Location is far away from metro. Not clean, cats everywhere. If you compare with other places a little bit expensive even during the World Cup. Just one toilet, and the place is really hard to find. No signs or anything. Staff is helpful and nice but not good value for the money I paid.
