I loved this hostel. The room was comfortable and clean. The staff was friendly. Location was perfect for going out to dinner, exploring, or having a nightcap. SP has a smell, which did permeate to the room and was sometimes unbearable, however that was at no fault of the hostel. Would stay here again and recommend it

Great little hostel in the best possible location in SP. Lucas was a champion during his late night shift and called an Uber for me because my app wasn't working in Brasil. 11/10

Very cool hostel, on a street full of bars it has a great location. We arrived on a friday night and find that the area was already packed and lively with people out for drinks! The hostel has a really cool aesthetic, comfy beds, nice out door area. Breakfast was very basic but the hostel is at the back of a bar that does good caiprinhas and food, its quite a trendy hipster neighbourhood and we enjoyed! There's forro in the square around the corner on sundays too, would 100% return to Garoa!

Luckily, I found Garoa Hostel before my last flight to São Paulo, just hours before arriving. I thought that the price was extremely reasonable and it was located on a lively street with easy access from the metro station, which made it easier to get to since it was on the opposite side of the city from the airport. I really would have liked to spend more time in the area to get more of a feel of the place and the people but I was only there one night. I will keep it in mind for future trips.

There's a bar attached, open to the public - cool in a social sense, but bad for security (the pass-coded door to hostel rooms was usually open or unlocked). Staff were ok, but not very attentive. Many of them live in the hostel and frequently take over the common areas - so the actual guests were often excluded. Location is excellent on a colorful and lively street full of interesting bars and interesting people (younger hipster crowd) in a cool area (close to metro too). Would stay again.

Stayed here for a couple of nights and the place in general is nice and clean. The location is fantastic! Only few downsides was that the kitchen facilities are poor and that the security and staffing there were issues. One member of staff who was meant to be on reception was just chilling in the bar with his mates drinking whilst he had 3 customers waiting, not on really.

Great hostel, secure and safe but a couple of things let it down. Breakfast was never on time as was meant to start at 7 every morning but didn’t and some of the staff were quite miserable on the front desk and unhelpful. Otherwise great location, good facilities and kept clean! Would definitely reccomend! 👌🏻👌🏻

This hostel's primary function is as a bar- it felt like we were sleeping in the bar itself Thursday-Sunday. The rooms smelled like sewer at night. While most of the staff was wonderful, one was quite rude. The hostel primarily caters to Brazilians living in Sao Paolo rather than tourists, so there was no vibe or sense of travelers' community. The staff didn't really have suggestions for fun things to do in the city other than the free walking tour.
