The staff are a credit to this place. Me and me brother rocked back after drinking around the area and opened a drink in the common room and everyone turned a blind eye until we started getting a bit to loud, when security politely informed us we couldn't drink alcohol, and asked us would we mind finishing our drink outside, in a non threatening, and non patronising fashion. We of course apologised and obliged the absolutely curious request. Also the Canadian girl on reception was so friendly!

Generator was a great option in Dublin! Great location—Right next door to the Jameson distillery and a 10-15 minute walk to pretty much everything else we wanted to do for the couple of days we were in Dublin. The desk staff were helpful and we were able to get discounts to the Guinness Storehouse tour (there's also one for Jameson tour). Our room was pretty hot at night, but that was pretty typical for our other hostels as well. The hairdryer in our hall's women's bathroom didn't work though.

This hostel would be great if you were attending a stag night or hen party! Unfortunately, I was attending neither, and being over 60, was hoping for a good night's sleep which was difficult with the level of street noise. This is a good fun type hostel for a younger clientele

Decent hostel without being outstanding. Plenty of open spaces and the dorms are a decent size. Very convenient location.

    Good

Some benefits and some drawbacks to this hostel. Good location and generally a good value, but the overall experience is definitely one of the less good hostel experiences I've had. Rooms were quite cramped (you couldn't sit up if you were on the top bunk or you'd hit your head on the ceiling) and poorly ventilated (it was uncomfortably warm and the air was a bit rank). The music from the bar was loud enough that it was reasonably loud in the rooms until after 1am.

The hostel is cool looking but our experience was TERRIBLE. The staff was rude and unhelpful with tourist information and tours, our reservation was messed up, the keys got demagnetized every day, the beds uncomfortable and it’s not even in that great of location, it felt far from pubs and the city center. There is also no kitchen or fridge to store food. Would NOT recommend generator
