Property Description

A warm welcome awaits you at our very rural and rustic accommodation in the heart of the valley of Glencoe.

Our 3 Star Visit Scotland graded hostel building (standard rooms) is an original highland croft sleeping up to 24, in 4 bedrooms of 6. During quieter times you can book sole use of a 6 bedded room for either 2 or 4 people so no sharing! It has a dining room, kitchen and lounge with open log fire. This is available only to guests staying in the hostel building. Hostel rooms are marked 'standard' in the search.

THE BUNKHOUSE (basic rooms) is more basic than the hostel. The bunkhouse sleeps 16 in 1 room of 8 and 2 rooms of 4. It has a central communal sitting/cooking/eating area. The bathroom is accessed externally. Bunkhouse rooms are marked 'basic' in the search. Guests staying in the bunkhouse do not have access to the hostel building with the open fire etc.

In both properties bed linen is provided and beds are made for your arrival. Bunkhouse guests do not have use of the hostel facilities and vice versa.

We are located 'in the middle of nowhere' between Glencoe Village and the Clachaig Inn. We are easily accessible by car or bike and 1.5 miles from the bus stop in Glencoe Village. You can stock up with food on your way through. Our views are fantastic.

We are set in 2 acres of land, surrounded with native woodland, which is home to Roe and Red Deer, wild birds and the occasional Pine Marten. Come rain or shine, the scenery is breathtaking, with views of the ridge and the Pap. If all night partying is your thing you'll find it elsewhere, if you want fantastic scenery and love the outdoors this is the place for you!

We have several low level walks locally, plus several 'Munros'. Walking and cycling route advice is readily available. We have a have a purpose built drying room for your kit,.

Bike hire is available in the village - why not pre-book it?

Reception is open from 2pm to 9pm (late arrivals possible via prior arrangement), we have no curfew and don't close the hostel in the day, so if the weather is not great, then you can just chill out in front of the fire with a book. View House Rules

Excellent big kitchen with all the equipment you might require. Toilets and showers are clean and hot water plentiful. The living room is big with sofas and seating for quite a crowd. The dining room had plenty of tables and chairs, with room for many people. Security entry is a reasssuring touch. The bunkrooms were warm and bunks comfy and cosy. The best thing was the log fire - brilliant. All at very reasonable rates.

Enjoyed my stay here. Worth noting I stayed in the attic dorm. Accommodation itself was solid, had single beds which was a nice change. Kitchen and the lounge area were nice too. Main issue was toilets/shower situation. I was there when it was full (roughly 24ish people) between them all was one dedicated male shower and 2 toilets (assume was the same for girls), then there was 1 unisex shower. Really don't think this is enough giving number of people there, usually had to wait to use them.

Perfect location if you want to see the Highlands and a supermarket is only a 10 minute drive away. The shared living space in our dorm was big, however the chairs are plastic at a dining room table and there is no comfortable lounge to relax on after a big day of hiking. The kitchen was really good as it had staples and what we needed to make a nice home cooked meal on the stove. The rooms are quite tiny so not a lot of room for luggage, but the beds are comfy. Overall it was a good experience.

I didn’t see a single staff person there during my stay. I had to be let into the hostel and my room by other guests. Staff left me a note at the entrance saying they’re sorry they are not there and that they’ll be there after 5pm (I arrived at 6:30pm) but no one ever came (check in is supposedly until 9pm). I waited for 35 mins and used the emergency phone multiple times with no answer. Thankfully someone else was leaving the hostel and let me in. No staff throughout the evening or at checkout.

despite the online complaints, they never cleaned the hostel from the numerous old and new spiderwebs, dead insects, mold on the walls, grime and piles of litter under the beds. the hostel is dirty, disgusting and sub-standard. shoving the broom at the spiderwebs costs no money and it is literally a matter of neglect and not giving a f***k. i would definitely not recommend staying there (the good ratings and prizes are for the cabins, the dormitory is the dirty secret).
