It is an old house but it is definitely the best house to stay in Dunedin! It is close to about everything you want to see in the city and the staff are very nice and always really happy to have a conversation on any subject. I felt like home and at the end of it all, that's what anybody wants when staying somewhere, isn't it?

Cool old place, awesome people and staff and best of all if you can make use of the FREE Bikes and Kayaks to see the City, Harbour and Peninsular for no cost. I wish I had more time to explore with the Bike and Kayaks and to do some of the walking tracks I was told about!! If you want a central location to explore Dunedin City and the area around this is the place to do it from!!

Our 2 night stay at Globe House was pleasant. Great location near town - it is on a hill though! Our private room/the kitchen/bathroom we're very clean and our bed was so comfy. The kitchen/dining area was quite small for the amount of people staying at the hostel, but it wasn't a major issue. Overall, the house just needs a bit of updating. However, Andy's hosting skills were great and he gave us lots of tips/must see's around Dunedin.

Up and coming hostel. Old home turned hostel, large rooms with clean facilities and fast WiFi. Could use a little renovation. Parking can be difficult but we managed between the hill out front and the alley behind the house. Would book again.

    Very Good

The hostel was overall ok. No heating though so it was quite cold when I was there. They provided extra blankets, but I really didn’t like being such a cold room during dinner. Wouldn’t be an issue during the summer but was unpleasant during the cool fall days I was there.

Good location and very cheap, probably better for long stays as you really feel like you are in the owner's house, a bit awkward for a short stay, a bit messy with a lot of personal things laying around Owner is nice and helpful

Overall staying at Globe House was an okay experience. We found it a little odd that the owners live in the same space as the guest but didn’t explain that when we arrived or ever. We felt like we were staying in their home not a hostel. Also, the long term guests took over the room we stayed in and it was very cramped and uncomfortable-we felt like we were in their space. The owners were super nice and some of the guests were friendly. It just felt like more like a house then a hostel.

I arrived at 10pm with 4 of my family and the staff told me they don't have credit card or EFTPOS facility, they ONLY ACCEPT cash. And if ever, they would charge 35% surcharge on credit card! Cash. In NZ. Late at night! He won't even accept my full New Zealand drivers license as proof of identification, only passport. If it's good enough for NZ Police, why isn't it good enough for Globe House?! I travelled locally and passport isn't required. After accepting my cash, he didn't check my ID!
