It's a good deal for the money you pay. But the real treasure is the guy who runs it, Andy is super cool and relaxed was fun chatting with him and asking him about the city.

Grounds overgrown, long grass and tall nodding thistles in front. Only one toilet which has no open window or ventilation, and only a few metres from communal kitchen. Ran out of hot water second morning, cold or no shower. Cash or 15% surcharge for credit card use.

Visible water damage on the walls and ceiling. Shower didn't drain. Arrived at 3:45pm and there was no office or reception. Had to wait 30mins for them to arrive after calling him to let us in. We understand the tourism industry has been very hard and that the hostel has understandably shifted to accommodating longer term residents in flatting style accommodation, but based off of the Hostel World listing, the reviews and photographs we were expecting quiiiite a different experience.

We slept there for Elton’s John, it appeared they made the room up for the concert as we slept in a kitchen/lounge area. Better than not having a bed

Once we have arrived at the hostel, we had to wait one hour before being checked in and in saying so, out of the door. Too busy for him to come and give the chance to settle in. Because it was a cold day and we were travelling with an infant one of their neighbor, pretty sure part of the same premise gave us the chance to wait in their lounge, still not heated and super cold. Once checked in I have been forced to go to the ATM to get some cash while unable to take any card payment.

The room given was not the one I booked for. I booked a private room but was given a dorm with bunkbeds. The host argued that it is a private room as no other travellers has booked in and I will not be sharing it with others. I had to pay the price for the private room regardless and the host requested cash. I was willing to pay it because I felt bad that the business is slow for the hostel. Due to the lack of tourists most rooms in this hostel has been leased to long term tenants.

I do not know where to begin; as soon as you enter the property the smell of rising damp and mould hits you, and the lack of sunlight or, indeed, any light makes the place feel oppressive and dark. The room I stayed in, the 6 bed dorm, was cramped, smelly, and just gross. I barely slept because a. it was absolutely freezing cold (there was a tiny, tiny heater that barely gave out any heat) and the pathetic duvet barely kept me warm, and b. I was so worried about bed bugs. Don't go.
