Property Description

Gram's Place Bed and Hostel is Tampa, Florida's only Hostel / Le Gite!

Gram's Place Bed and Hostel features completely private rooms with en suite baths, traditional hostel shared dorm rooms with shared baths, and "Semi-Private” Rooms which are still private, but without an en suite bath.

Check in times are typically between 2PM and 10PM.

All rooms are air conditioned. Our “Fast and Free” Wi-Fi covers the whole of the Gram’s Place property.

Enjoy good music, good people, good vibes, and good fun at Gram's Place. We are a musically themed hostel and it is not uncommon for there to be music playing somewhere on property, whether it be recorded music, live entertainment, or simply a spontaneous gathering of musicians.

One can pair one’s own playlist via Bluetooth to our outdoor sound system on the heated Jacuzzi / Spa patio deck while enjoying one’s favorite beverages beneath the tree canopy, watching the stars or hiding from the mid-day sun.

Two full kitchens are available to all of our guests to prepare one’s own or communal meals. Gram’s supplies the cookware, plates, and silverware, and you bring your own food!

Guest have long enjoyed our “Stairway to Heaven” pathways that ascend up and through the tree canopy, featuring platforms at varied levels through the tree canopies. The pathway eventually terminates at the rooftop platform in the trees that guests have affectionately named “The Crow’s Nest”. From The Crow’s Nest, one enjoys a 360 degree panoramic vista of our immediate Tampa Heights neighborhood including the nearby “Plymouth Playground” neighborhood park across the street. The Plymouth Playground features basketball courts, a picnic-ready green lawn, a baseball park, and a children’s playground for everyone’s use and enjoyment.

Arriving at the entrance gate you will see a sign that reads 'Mitakuye Oyasin', a Native American phrase which means 'We are all Related'. This spiritual consciousness recognizes and practices that everyone of our guests, friends, and acquaintances are interrelated and not just another traveling guest.

You know what you're getting when you choose a hostel. But I would choose this hostel over any motel or cheap hotel. It was a fun atmosphere and I loved the outdoor kitchen and shower! The crow's nest is fun! There was street parking and everyone was really nice. I'd say the price was fair for Tampa area, but there are hidden taxes/fees that I wish website would have let me know of.

Fantastic value, arguably the best value to be had in Tampa, or in America. The home is immaculate, well maintained, and is decorated with music memorabilia and nostalgia. The only negative aspect is few people know of such a great deal. Also, the staff was very hospitable. I was driving from Wyoming, and had a long trip, and the staff, though I was late, after 9:00 check in time, didn’t remark at all on it, but cheerfully made sure I was accommodated and settled in. Thank you!!

We really enjoyed Gram's Place! Very good security (multiple combo locks). My first time in a hostel. As long as you don't mind the interaction with other guests, this place was great. You must be ready to cook your own breakfast (they provide all you need) and wash your own dishes. If you don't mind these things, this is a great way to see Tampa and save some money vs. staying in a hotel. Clean & neat and well done!

The whole experience was great. So glad I found this spot. And its the only one in Tampa. I had a very euro vibe and the atmosphere was super chill. During my stay I had the pleasure of rooming with a eclectic group of people that were all interesting in their own wright. This place is great for a pit stop or for making your base camp for a few days.

This is a good budget place near downtown to stay. Staff memebers are friendly and helpful. Only issue was with overall cleanliness, found roaches in bathroom other than that the stay was good.

Quaint place. Welcome was not very warm and pretty sarcastic with responses, paid for private room; so a bit more courtesy after driving would have went a long way. Room was called the “Blues Room” a/c was off when we arrived; could have at least turned in on low before on a 90 degree day. Took forever for the room to cool off and smell of dust or smoke was always around. Shower was small could barely move in it. No hand soap, provided sanitizer; which was nice but bring your own soap. 3 stars..

I was not familiar with Tampa so I didn’t realize the hostel was located in a really bad neighborhood. I would not feel safe walking around it. When I arrive to the place I was hesitant to stay. Once I met the owners, I decided to give it a shot. I booked a private room. The price was 75 per night. The room was clean but it was not what I expected. I didn’t stay the second night. I booked a room at the Hilton in St Petersburg for100 a night.

Owner has a bad attitude. If you like being falsely accused of being inconsiderate and not caring about anyone but yourself, then stay at Gram's place. The place also reeks of cigarette stink. If you like eating with cigarette ashes and stink, stay at Gram's place.
