The Green Tortoise is a great example of what happens when history meets today. Located in the historic Pike Market District, the Green Tortoise is a wonderful place to unwind. The staff are an extremely helpful resource for the casual vacationer to the jet setter who know what they want and how to get it. They are knowledgeable about not only the local area but the surrounding areas as well. Bunk style lodgings/ complimentary breakfast/wi-fi. Problems are resolved quickly and quietly.

I have stayed at quite a few Hostels around the world, and this one combines location and convenience all in one. For those visiting Seattle, this is basically as good as it gets. You are in the heart of Seattle with all the amenities you need. I will be staying here again.

The hostel was perfectly located, literally right across the street from Pike Place Market and within easy walking distance of most attractions in town and many transport options. Staff was friendly and helpful on arrival, even showed me to my room. The room was a decent size, and the bed was comfortable with dedicated electrical sockets, light, and fan. The privacy curtains were a nice touch. However, I was freezing in the room - there was no quilt, only a wool blanket and top sheet.

Overall pretty good. Friendly staff and you can’t beat the location, though the rooms themselves left something to be desired: - Thin mattress so you can feel the support planks in your back (top bunk) - Lockers are under the bottom bunk so it’s hard to get your stuff without disturbing your bunkmate - No bedside shelf/cubbie - Each bed has its own fan, but it’s fairly loud for not pushing much air - The 8 bed dorms are pretty cramped

Green Tortoise is feet away from Pike Place. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Beds are very firm as well as their pillows. Bathrooms can get kinda gross and smelly, but shower temp can get very hot! Free breakfast is nice, however I found that the commons area was very spaced out and everyone was minding their own business, I think it would be hard to meet people if you were travelling solo here.

    Very Good

I reserved two beds in a female-dorm and was in a co-ed room instead. While there were plenty of single-stall private restrooms on our hall, they were disgusting on the weekend. Staff did clean them thoroughly Monday, which made it unfortunate that I checked out Tuesday.

Definitely not the best hostel I’ve stayed in. The location is faultless but I had a few issues with the hostel itself - there was a terrible smell in the hallways, the bathrooms were NOT cleaned very often (which to me is a basic), the rooms looked like they hadn’t had a good clean in a long time and the beds are super uncomfortable. Unfortunately I would t stay here again and would recommend other to look around.
