This has been my favorite hostel to stay at. The house is absolutely lovely and full of so much character. I loved sitting in the common area and chatting with new friends and staff late into the night. The mixed-dorm style beds were super comfy and a lot more spacious than I anticipated. This place was a great choice.

Very pleasant place to live at, not too far away from a train station as well.

Really loved our stay here at hachi, it’s away from the downtown area but a nice quaint little traditional Japanese guesthouse. Would definitely stay here again. Super clean and very cute area

I had a great stay at guest house Hachi. It's in a great area, close to public transport and a short cycle to most sites. The team were very friendly and accomodating. I highly recommend that anyone stay here when visiting Kyoto.

Hachi has to be one of the best places I've ever stayed at -- it's a cute little traditional Japanese house and it's clean and pretty conveniently located. Most of the staff members are on working holidays here and are incredibly passionate about Japanese culture. They offered great tips on discovering the hidden gems of Kyoto and gave some pretty cool recommendations for my cafe crawl around the neighbourhood. Would 11/10 recommend and am planning to go back my next trip already! :)

Traditional guest house 15 mins from downtown by bus, has a great warm vibe thanks to the innovative owners and the fabulous multicultural and open minded staff (special mention to Amelia- a trendy artist whose sculptures and art works are displayed). The place has a lovely fresh smell, some cute gold fish, lots of plants. The only small down side is the stair case which is a little steep, so if you don't like stairs please book the bottom room

I truly recommend hachi - the atmosphere is very friendly and everything is obviously done with a lot of heart and attention to detail. Extras like small towels, hair dryers or even buying a tooth brush or lending one of the bikes made my stay extremely comfortable. Also several sento are in walking distance and the staff is very kind and helpful.

Absolutely superb, the quality of this guest house is worth the slight extra distance (up to an hour) from the main tourist attractions. Perfect for the Kyoto experience. We did Kyoto! The hosts were very accommodating and very informative. So much space in your capsule as well, almost like a box room. My only comment would be the frustrating WiFi for the guests which you have to log in every time and even then is inconsistent.

I stayed for 2 nights at Hachi. As for a light sleeper and enjoy doing everything alone person I like it here. I love the quiet surrounding that I can have nice walk anytime I want feeling safe. Near 2 stations (around 8-10’ walking) so you can go to other spots of Kyoto. Also there’s some good restaurants nearby so you can try local food. Staffs are nice and informative. If the bathrooms can be a little bigger then everything here is perfect.
