We enjoyed our stay. Would definitely recommend this place. We appreciate that it is not a large hostel.

I had such a lovely stay at Guesthouse Yululu. The location was perfect - only a few minutes walk to the main subway station giving easy access to Kyoto Station, and still in an atmospheric part of town. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The hostel is in a traditional little Japanese house and everything inside is set up beautifully (I stayed in the dorm room). Do be warned though that it is small - but for me this just added to the atmosphere and the experience.

Cute little traditional style hostel with good cooking facilities. Not the most social, but the atmosphere is very warm.

Clean, well-equipped kitchen with free tea and coffee. There was a cosy reading/eating area. 1 shower for the whole hostel was not ideal and meant long queues. Private room was very small but comfy and with Aircon. Down a quiet street but with lots of Kyoto sites within easy reach.

The hostel is a neat, old Japanese house. The staff was really helpful and gave us a good recommendation for dinner. My friend and I stayed in the dorm and since it only holds 6 people, it didn’t seem overcrowded. However, the dorm did not have air conditioning and staying there in July was pretty hot.

The located of this guesthouse is great, right near a subway station and pretty easy to walk around the city. Not much in the way of communal areas and so I found it wasn't a super social hostel, but this is owed to the fact that it is a traditional Japanese house and has to make the most of its small size. The beds were comfortable though and facilities clean.

The description of the place is purposefully misleading, It's not possible to see the overall layout of the room the way they took the photos. The bunk beds are not in a room, rather in between very narrow hallway. Generally, bunk beds in a hostel are located within a room with some space to keep stuff in, or move around. Because there is not an actual room where the beds are in, there's no way to even do simple things like changing clothes. The place is EXTREMELY crammed in space.
