Sannomiya, specifically in Kobe, is the center of the cultural crossroads.

Guesthouse Maya opened in thick of local town Nada at the foot of the stunning mountain, where is not very far at all from Sannomiya.

Fantastic hostel with amazing and friendly staff. The owner organised a food tour while we were there of the local markets, which was an amazing and authentic experience you should definitely try if you have the opportunity! Nice common area for meeting other travellers. Showers, bathrooms and bedrooms were clean and the bed was comfy. It is well located near to train stations, however this does mean that you can hear the trains quite loudly in the morning (but they do provide ear plugs!).

Very friendly staff. The decoration looks a little "too much" on the photos but it's actually nicely done and provides a good atmosphere.

The hostel has great atmosphere, very cosy. The staff is very friendly and helpful. I enjoyed my stay there a lot. Please note that you are not in the center of the city, however, you are very close to the train station, so you can reach the train Kobe or Sannomiya very quickly.

Their staff is really friendly more than staff i feel like they’re friends. They always ask guest where they went today how today was like. And I even have some beer with them talking about stuff together. Recommended for anyone who like talking and communication with other guest But about facility things sometimes wifi is too bad to use. The floor is seem to fragile than usual.

No atmosphere and maybe 6 guests in the whole place, mainly locals. Lights out in the common room by 11 and a bunch of rules. Lovely staff, decor, facilities and beds. Security was good, although the pin codes got tedious. Little lockers behind the beds big enough for belongings. Located next to a tube stop that can take you to Kobe station for ~160 yen. About an hour and half walk from the lively areas though. Staff gave me a free Mount Maya cable pass which made value for money 10/10

Really interesting building and very nice common areas and facilities. The group 'tour' up the mountain was reasonably interesting but not worth a 1000¥ price for what was essentially a brief walk, a bus (which is not included) and a couple of facts.
