In my opinion it's worth coming to Wakayama city just to stay here! Super great aesthic and very clean. They had a community noodle eating/bbq event during our stay and we were invited to join in. Its walkable to the train station and Wakayama castle and a short bus ride to Kataonami beach. They even helped us to understand how buses work in Wakayama. Also close to a neighbourhood onsen. The only reason I didn't give it 10/10 is that there aren't lockers in dorms but it felt very secure.

Lovely hosts, couldn’t do enough for me, even helped me dry my shoes out when I got wet in the rain. Simple dorms but all the necessities. Nice area to relax in and good kitchen facilities.

Really nice hostel that covers it all and does so very well. Only thing I would say is that the atmosphere is pretty nonexistent. But this is probably because Wakayama is more of a daytrip thing from Osaka. Would definitely recommend this place.

Staying at this hostel was one of my highlights! The staff was so warm and friendly, and went out of their way to help me and make me feel at home. The downstairs co-working space has a super cool vibe and they seemed to have some events there too. The only negative point was that since there is such an open/familiar atmosphere, my room was usually left unlocked and I don't remember seeing any lockers for your stuff (but I also didn't ask!) Other than that, 10/10 I will definitely stay again!

Guesthouse RICO has definitely been one of the most aesthetically beautiful hostels I have ever stayed at. The staff are very friendly, all spaces were incredibly clean and there are lots of areas to chill out in (including a rooftop!) If you're planning on visiting Wakayama City then this is definitely the place to stay (just know it's a quieter city in Japan with fewer activities). I was surprised to be the only person in my dorm room the first night, but the second it was completely full!

Quirky hostel, perfect for exploring Wakayama city. Slept in a bunk bed dorm room, where the beds were very comfortable. No lockers in room, but the room door dose lock however, you will have to trust your room mates. Room was through the bathroom and showeroom which wasnt a problem until a guest used the hairdryer and shower at 4am. Their were signs asking people not to shower after 11pm, but nothing the hostel can do if people ignore. Staff were very friendly.
