Property Description

HI Athabasca Falls is the perfect hostel for outdoor group activities. It is the largest of the four wilderness hostels in Jasper National Park. Located next to the powerful Falls of the same name, the location promises awesome views, spectacular hiking and a wonderful off-the-beaten path experience.

The Fryatt Valley and Athabasca Pass are easily accessed from the hostel offering cross-country skiing, hiking and mountain biking opportunities.

This is a wilderness hostel with limited creature comforts - no running water, no showers, and no flush toilets. We do have purified water for cooking, a refrigerator, stoves and solar-powered lights.

We supply all bed linen - sheets, blankets, pillows and pillow cases - so you can leave your sleeping bag at home! (no charge for linen)

**NOTE - Due to the wilderness location, accessibility for the physically disabled is challenging (call for further details) Credit Card needed when making reservations. Due to lack of direct/reliable communication with the Wilderness Hostels the Central Reservation Office is not able to make same day arrival reservations - walk in basis only. 48 hours individual cancellation - at all wilderness hostels. A word on HI Wilderness Hostels

Get back to nature with HI's network of wilderness hostels. They're a varied bunch! Some have lights powered by propane, some have rustic wood-burning saunas, at some you'll get electricity, and at others you'll get to pump your own water. But whatever you're after, these hostels with their simple comforts immerse you in the natural splendour of the Rockies.

You'll be able to savour true silence, night skies bursting with stars and the knowledge that some of the world's most magnificent outdoors is, really, just out the door. Dotted along the Icefields Parkway, and throughout the Parks, these hostels are set into pockets of trees, alongside creeks, or at the base of thousand-foot-high rock faces. Whether you get there by car, bike or on food, your efforts are rewarded with some of the finer, simpler things in life - a warm fire, cozy lounges, and the chance to share food with new friends while you relive the day's adventures.

Jeff was a very good host. The main living area was warm and cozy. There were lots of spices and added touches. Books to look at for reference as well. It was warm and inviting. This was my first experience in a hostel. My next one was the next night. It was not Hostel International and it showed. I will stay with their name as I felt it was a great culture.

This hostel was probably our favorite we've stayed in so far on our trip through BC/Alberta. It was so cozy and welcoming. The woman who was working (I didn't catch her name and I feel like a jerk!) was so wonderful and helpful. She gave us great advice about which trails to do in Jasper and even along the Icefields on our way to Banff (where we were headed the next day). The mood was very warm and friendly, the beds were comfortable and stable, and the electricity was much appreciated!

Jeff was very kind and kept the facilities clean. The bathrooms were relatively clean, aside from humans peeing on the floor. I enjoyed my stay and the hikes Jeff recommended.

Loved the cozy, relaxed atmosphere of this place. Warm, nice common area to relax in. Host was so nice. The only things that could make this better are showers (although offer of shower in town made available), and less mosquitos lol. Highly recommend, would stay here again.

The place was absolutely spotless. Not much of an atmosphere due to covid-19 but it is in a beautiful location and close to all the attractions.

    Very Good

My first time in a hostel. Jeff was amazing and the place was spotless and tidy all the time. It was a fun “camping” experience, but I wished there was a bathroom and shower - not just an outhouse. However the outhouse was the best one I’ve ever been in 😊
