Overview

Welcome to HI Boston – a fun, friendly place to stay when you're exploring the city. Because our building was created especially for us, there are loads of useful features, from lights and power sockets by each bed, to a handy lift to the top floor! We'll give you a free breakfast each morning so you can explore your Chinatown surroundings and hold off buying food until lunch. Hang out with fellow travellers in the kitchen and common spaces, where we've got a pool table (up for a tournament?), piano and TV room with cable channels.

Location

You'll be about a 15-minute stroll from downtown sites like Custom Tower House and Old South Meeting House, where they organised a famous tea party more than 200 years ago. Boston Common's around the corner and iconic universities like Harvard and M.I.T. are a couple of stops by subway. You'll also be less than a 20-minute walk to the shops and market stalls of Faneuil Hall, where you can catch free street entertainment. Boston Logan airport is about a half-hour metro ride away.

Rooms and Dorms

Our male, female and mixed dorm rooms have locker units and a personal shelf for stashing those essentials. After checking in at the 24-hour reception, we'll give you free bedding, a duvet, pillows and a towel, so there's no need to unpack your own. Each room has a bathroom outside in the hallway, complete with soap and hairdryers. For a little extra comfort, book a private room: these have TVs and en-suites with baths for a long, luxurious soak.

Extras and activities

If you're after tips or want to book a trip, head to the travel desk. You can jump on one of our free city tours or set off on a DIY one using the free city maps – you'll have Wi-Fi back at the hostel to share your pictures on Snapchat. We've also got handy laundry facilities (hello, clean pants!), 24-hour security and an ATM on site.

Amazing place, it's got great facilities and it's really big. The beds are big and comfy. There is no storage to leave big pieces of luggage in the receptionwhile you are checked in but the rooms have extremely large lockers that can fit one large suitcase. The kitchen is huge and it's got everything you could need, the bkfst is included and really good. Although the price is a bit steep, it's totally worth your money. Oh and the staff is really friendly.

I am 65 years old and never stayed at a hospital before, this was a wonderful experience for me. There was a sense of hospitality and acceptance of all ages. I chose to be in a room with three other people , I was pleased with the layout of the room where everyone had their own nightlight and little space to put their glasses or a book or a drink. And there was A locker big enough to hold a big suitcase or hang some clothes. They’ll sell you a small lock if you don’t have one. Great kitchen

Great hostel! So many activities every day, plenty of bathrooms (although one extra clean a day of them would make it nicer), spacious rooms with good lockers, free breakfast! Only being picky - curtains on beds would be good in case people need the light, some staff members great but others a bit lacklustre, air con ran really cold in our room (both a plus and minus I guess). Bit expensive but seems normal for this city. Would definitely recommend, especially for solo travellers!

Honestly this place is SO expensive for what it is.. because of the lack of choice of hostels in Boston it looks like a good idea but the beds are horribly uncomfortable (I’ve stayed twice & both times my beds had huge dips in them), the staff I dealt with weren’t overly friendly or giving with information, the check in is so late - 4pm for a hostel where check out is at 11?? Come on! OH & they charge you to leave your bags in the locker room after you check out!! Def room for some improvements!
