Good hostel with a homely feel. Staff were friendly, just not a lot going on it seems. Not a lot of options in the Halifax area but they deliver regardless.

Location of the hostel is great! Right in centre of the city. It is an old heritage house, so expect what it would offer. The cleanliness is good(kitchen, washroom, common areas, rooms). They have spacious kitchen, tv room and washrooms too. Guests can use laundry for a fee after 5pm.The hostel is definitely worth for the money! There was only one drawback; the wifi was very slow during late day and night. I guess it depends on how many people use it!

Great hostel close to the waterfront and downtown Halifax, on the bus route to the airport, and several rental car agencies. Everyone was friendly, though a lot of people were staying there for extended periods and had basically made themselves right at home, so it could've been a bit tidier. Nonetheless good stay for the price and I really enjoyed it.

Peaceful place! Clean bathroom, comfy bed, friendly & helpful staff! dorm was mixed gender but I was the only woman. Not an issue for me but may be for some. Loved the BIG kitchen! Wanted to note: The "FEMALE ONLY" washroom sign isn't welcoming language for trans & gnc folks so I hope it gets updated. Didn't see any mice but it's inevitable for a heritage building in a CITY to have mice. The kitchen has designated places for food & trash to limit mice so be mindful and do your part. Nice spot!

Ideal location for exploring the city for sure! It is an older building, so the rooms are a bit dingy. With that said, the beds are comfy and blankets are warm, which is what matters. Staff are friendly and accommodating and the common spaces seem nice (i personally didn’t really use them).

    Very Good

Stayed for just one Friday night in Halifax. The dorms and washrooms were in good shape. Bed wasn't the comfiest but not bad. Would have loved some shades on the window so it wasn't quite as bright with city lights at night. Overall, the staff and other guests were pleasant and quiet. Nice size kitchen and dining area. The office and kitchen hours are a bit limited unfortunately. Would recommend for affordable Halifax accommodations.

    Very Good

Great, basic hostel in a perfect location. Had all amenities a traveller would need; clean kitchen, clean bathroom, clean dorms. Mattresses are quite thin, so if you have a back problem that might be an issue (it was fine for me though). One downside is that, although guests are given a key during check-in, not many lock the dorm when leaving, increasing the risk of personal belongings being stolen. However, there are smaller security lockers which can be used. Overall I had a good stay!

Staff was grumpy and unhelpful, quite the opposite of our recent hostel experiences. Our room was in the basement and smelled funny and there were poison traps everywhere. The door didn’t close and nobody locked it either. Luckily we only stayed for 1 night.

The staff was very rude. They wanted me to leave my passport in an unlocked drawer in the office. The rooms smelled of feet and mildew. The bed when I got there was covered in dirt and the bathroom had visible mildew all over everything. There was no atmosphere at all to speak of and the kitchen was often closed. I’ve stayed in quite a few hostels and this was the most disappointing for the cost I was charged. Location is ideal but I’d find an air BnB in the area next time.
