Certainly better than paying a high price for a hotel in downtown Halifax. Unfortunately, if you live in Nova Scotia (or maybe it's Halifax-not sure which), you are not supposed to stay there. They did let me stay for the two nights that I had pre-booked, which was nice. The people were very friendly, and I enjoyed it.

Living in a 200 years old building and you pay what you get. The hostel is relatively clean and well maintained. The heating was not working well during my stay, there was a mini heater in the room, but it wasn't warm enough. Luckily, the staffs are extremely helpful, I changed to another room at the end and got a very good sleep.

Good hostel with a homely feel. Staff were friendly, just not a lot going on it seems. Not a lot of options in the Halifax area but they deliver regardless.

Ideal location for exploring the city for sure! It is an older building, so the rooms are a bit dingy. With that said, the beds are comfy and blankets are warm, which is what matters. Staff are friendly and accommodating and the common spaces seem nice (i personally didn’t really use them).

    Very Good

Stayed for just one Friday night in Halifax. The dorms and washrooms were in good shape. Bed wasn't the comfiest but not bad. Would have loved some shades on the window so it wasn't quite as bright with city lights at night. Overall, the staff and other guests were pleasant and quiet. Nice size kitchen and dining area. The office and kitchen hours are a bit limited unfortunately. Would recommend for affordable Halifax accommodations.

    Very Good

Great, basic hostel in a perfect location. Had all amenities a traveller would need; clean kitchen, clean bathroom, clean dorms. Mattresses are quite thin, so if you have a back problem that might be an issue (it was fine for me though). One downside is that, although guests are given a key during check-in, not many lock the dorm when leaving, increasing the risk of personal belongings being stolen. However, there are smaller security lockers which can be used. Overall I had a good stay!
