Property Description

Out on the holy Isla del Sol (Island of the Sun) in the Titicaca Lake, Hostelling International Bolivia presents in YUMANI the new HI-Hostel Inka Pacha.

Reaching the top of the island after having climbed the famous Inca Stairs from the South Port (1.5 hours by boat from Copacabana - last boat at 13:30pm), come and enjoy the mind-blowing view and the delicious food in our new hostel, entirely built under ecological aspects.

The hostel offers a number of different well-kept rooms, including dormitory, matrimonial, double and family rooms (with and without private bathroom), most of which offer a stunning panorama view over the Titicaca Lake and the Cordillera Real!

Don Martn and his family serve breakfast; lunch and dinner (try the Trout a la Romana, fresh from the lake!) and offer you interesting trips to the Incas nearby temple of the sun, the Island of the Moon and the islands northern part where you can find the mystic Head of the Puma. You can also buy ferry tickets in the hostel.

Bring only little luggage when you come to the island, the way up the Inca stairs with heavy backpacks and suitcases is pretty tiring, especially when you havent got used to the height yet!

There are no banking facilities on the island, so make sure you bring enough money (and change!).

Dont get mislead by the tourist hunting boys at the port! The boys abandon their school classes to earn commissions leading tourists to other hostels dont support them neglecting their education!
Just walk up to the Inca stairs to the little village Yucumani, you cant miss the hostel! View House Rules

The view is really lovely and this hostel feels like home. I really enjoyed my stay there, the shower was warm (not hot) but considering the facilities on the island it’s already great. Had an amazing dinner cooked by the owners, they were very amicable hosts and the relaxing music was really enjoyable while admiring the scenery of the island visible from the common room. Would stay again !

Clean hotel with internet and a nice common area. Staff will cook you dinner and breakfast for a fee. The hostel is way up the island’s main stair case which is a bit of a burden but you get the lovely view as a reward. Be warned though there was a feud between the north and south of the island during my stay. With the south blocking all tourist movement to the north. If this is still the case you don’t really need to stay on the island overnight.

You get what you pay for. It’s basic but decent and much cheaper than any of the other accommodation on the island. I’d happily stay again. Breakfast isn’t included and wasn’t worth the money and I couldn’t lock my door from the inside

Pretty much all hostels are up the hill, so if you have a big heavy backpack you can leave it in Copacabana i.e travel agents office and take with you some essentials for a night. I don’t know why I thought I needed up front reservation, there are so many hostels on the island which are not listed here and have more competitive prices.

Decent WiFi and good breakfast (though not included) and good value, no lockers or charging points, and had to wait well after the breakfast start time for the owner to show up, but he was very nice. Speaking Spanish would help here as in a lot of Bolivia especially outside the big cities. Kept pretty clean but toilets need manual flushing (with a bucket) and shower was quite cold. Also hostel was pretty empty, there seem to be too many on isla del sol for the number of guests.

The hostel was ok, but no more than that. Staff not really friendly or helpfull. I think it would be easy to find options with better value for money. My recommendation would be to just show up in the island without reservation and look around.
