A word on HI Wilderness Hostels:

Get back to nature with HI's network of wilderness hostels. They're a varied bunch! Some have lights powered by propane, some have rustic wood-burning saunas, at some you'll get electricity, and at others you'll get to pump your own water. But whatever you're after, these hostels with their simple comforts immerse you in the natural splendour of the Rockies.

You'll be able to savour true silence, night skies bursting with stars and the knowledge that some of the world's most magnificent outdoors is, really, just out the door. Dotted along the Icefields Parkway, and throughout the Parks, these hostels are set into pockets of trees, alongside creeks, or at the base of thousand-foot-high rock faces. Whether you get there by car, bike or on food, your efforts are rewarded with some of the finer, simpler things in life - a warm fire, cosy lounges, and the chance to share food with new friends while you relive the day's adventures.

Great place, great staff, easy to find, super price - perfect. I only wish I had put a blanket under me as the mattress was cold and a second pillow but otherwise it was superb. Thanks and I will sure let everyone I know about it. Bette Fannon

Good stay. Now wifi was very refreshing. Free parking was great, as was the location just across the road from the Canyon and part way up to the Maligne lake, easy access to Jasper village too. Wouldn’t stay more than a few days based on the outhouse toilet and no showers. Nice bedrooms and comfy beds, lights and heating also. Kitchen very tidy and clean.

Angie was awful. We were not allowed to be barefoot outside by the fire, or cook or eat near it, or have a fire if she didn't want one, and if she wanted to leave she dumped water on it. She didn't do her own dishes, she bossed us around the kitchen and interrupted conversations and gave incorrect information. We were not allowed in the kitchen until 5pm even though there's a sign that says "kitchen open all day for guests". Paid too much to only be allowed on the hostel grounds from 5pm-10am.

No running water, no showers and drop toilet. Overpriced!!! The shared bathroom listed is two drop toilets to the side of the property. The sheets are clean but no duvet cover and the blankets don't appear to be washed. The bunk I had was short, my feet touched the end (I am only 163cm tall). They also didn't let other guests have a fire (even though there was no fire ban in place). I would advise people to save their Money and sleep in the car over staying here.
