I had a great 3 night stay at the HI Montreal & would highly recommend it, especially for travellers who want to socialise somewhat with the people they meet. There was a very friendly lively vibe from the get-go, particularly in the mornings & evenings in the great bar & lounge area downstairs with a perfect kitchen for making your own food. The bar crawl was good fun, and I met some lovely people on my stay. Bedroom & en-suite were really good/clean with air con & shower gel. Great breakfast

Truely a very nice hostel situated close to the centre with direct access to the cheap tube. The french and english speaking personnel was extremly nice and helpful and there was a wonderful karaoke taking place when I was there. There is also place to work in the common room (perhaps a bit more plugs would be helpful). I stayed in a four bed dorm, with very nice other guests. The dorm had a clean own bathroom. The carpet of my room would have needed renovation, but appart from it - perfect!

One of the very few hostels in Canada. Would recommend this to anyone who is looking to visit Montreal. The beds aren't amazing but they are good. Bathrooms are nice Hostel offers bike rental at a very good rate. I recommend cycling to St Helens Island and cycling around the F1 track for free. Some nice places to eat nearby 10minute walk. THE STAFF are amazing. I had some issues with my transport leaving Montreal and them helped massively especially Sophie! So thank you to all the staff.

HI Montreal says

I like to think we specialize in helping travellers get the full Montréal experience. To do so, Gab organizes free daily activities to take people off the beaten path: bike ride, urban walks, pub crawls, comedy nights and so on. They are fun and informal ways of seeing the city, plus they are perfect socializing opportunities! We also try to partner up with many local events and places we love as to encourage people to discover the best Montreal has to offer. And finally, our ultimate secret ingredient is our staff! They're great, funny, creative and helpful. We love them and you should too!
We're right downtown, close to pubs, clubs, museums and the crazy shopping street of Ste-Catherine. However, I do recommend that everyone ventures out a bit further to discover what the Plateau, the Mile-End and the Petite-Italie have to offer!
I'd say the hostel is suitable for anyone between 7 and 77, just like these good old board games! However, we tend to have a higher concentration of travellers between 18 and 35 years of age. Generally, these are backpackers, students moving to Montréal, people on working holiday visas or groups of friends from nearby places, such as Toronto or New York, coming to spend the weekend in the city.
