Paul was a brilliant host. Low expectations given no shower, but still everything was well above standard and you felt right at home. It was nice with no technology and it was nice to know before arriving. Definatley worth a visit

Awesome hostel! Such a cute cabin in the woods, felt like I was at camp :) we had a nice campfire at night and chatted with other travellers which was great. We had everything we needed — DO BE WARNED THE BEDS ARE LIKE 6 FEET! If you’re anything above 5’8 this could be uncomfortable. Other than that we had a great stay.

First off, as someone who was raised with a technology, the idea of this place terrified me. No electricity or no cell signal, yikes! But I would recommend this place to everyone. Its refreshing to stay in a place that is able to give you a safe haven from the outside world. The host was extremely friendly and even gave me tips about looking at the stars at night (which we're amazing also). The sleeping area/lounge is heated so don't worry about that. You have to give this place a try!

Great location - no showers but we washed in the river. Nice to hear the noise of the river running at night. Nice clean shared area with good kitchen facilities and running drinking water - much easier than the Beauty Creek hostel where you had to boil up water in order to wash up. Would stay here again.

The night I was to check-in, I couldn't find the hostel, but found the mosquito creek campsite instead. At 10 pm I arrived and all the people at mosquito creek campsite said there were no cabins. I looks at the GPS in the dark and it said the hostel was across the creek, but there was no bridge. Some campers told me it was 10 km further down the road.I went there, came back around 1:30am.Didn't see any signs.Fell asleep in my car with a bad back.Put the sign on the road, not 30m away.Add led lites

The Manager at this Hostel : Ian, listened to my concerns , and went out of his way to inform his replacement Richard ,about my situation That I was expected on Friday 9/14/18 and if I failed to show up he was to alert Parcs Canada Search & Rescue . A freak snow storm hit Banff Nat'l Park .I failed to show up Fri and Richard did alert Search & Rescue.I was rescued by a helicopter & I got back safely . I can't say enough good things about those guys . They saved me ! These guys are the best !

I understand hostels are cheap places to stay however the other HI hostels we stayed in were much nicer than this place. The kitchen has a strong smell of damp and all the surfaces were sticky. Would choose another location when returning to the area.
