Overview

Welcome to Portland’s hip and lively Nob Hill district, home to our HI Portland hostel. We're set in an elegant, clapboard building that's about as all-American as you can get, with the buzz of downtown Portland is a brief stroll away. Check in at our 24-hour reception, stow your stuff in the luggage store and head straight to the leafy gardens with their courtyard and BBQ – fill up on burgers and beers. Cook up a meal in the kitchen or grab a brew in our café, then kick back with a movie in our sociable common rooms.

Location

No more puzzling over transport maps – our hostel is just 15 minutes’ walk from the nearest Greyhound station and 16 minutes from the Amtrak station. From the airport, hop on the red line MAX train to Providence Park Station, then walk five blocks north on 18th Avenue to the hostel. The Nob Hill district is an Instagrammer’s dream, with its picture-perfect streets, artisan cafés and affordable craft-brew bars. Stretch your legs with a wilderness hike in the sprawling Forest Park.

Rooms and Dorms

You can choose between our dorms (if you’re feeling social) and private rooms (if you like your space). The hostel's in a quiet neighbourhood so there's no need to worry about noisy neighbours. Security lockers in the rooms are big enough for your essential stuff and linen is included. There’s free Wi-Fi, too, so you can unwind with your favourite show before bed.

Extras and activities

Our friendly staff are always happy to recommend places to explore. And our free city maps have all of the highlights so your data can be spared when you’re out and about. Free artisan bread is on hand to set you up for the day. Drivers can park on the street outside for just $5 a day. Our events, including pub crawls and walking tours, are free and regular, giving you the chance to get an insider's view of Portland.

We loved our stay in Portland. The accommodations were perfect for our visit. We were able to utilize the laundry and kitchen area to sanitize our camping gear and clothing before continuing on our camping tour of the West. The staff was informative and helpful. The room and common areas were very clean and safe. We look forward to another stay

I was very active when I was in Portland. Loved it. I hear bc of COVID19 safety, U allowed us dorm ppl to benefit by keeping it a singular environment in the dorms without charging us. Thanx!! I luv dorms, have been traveling for decades and staying in hostels around the world.

This was my second time staying here and I'll stay again when I return to Portland. The facilities are very clean and you get your own dorm room due to covid. There is a great group of longer stay guests along with people who are just passing through. Plenty of great spaces to hang out at on the property. Portland is a fun place to visit, be sure to rent and ebike from Portland Bike Rentals and Tours in Old Town to see Portland right!

Justin was very nice and answered all my Q's on where to eat certain food, how to get to airport train, etc. Wi-fi was very slow. Screen was falling out of window.

The hostel was in a great location, close to a lot of restaurants and bars. The facilities were clean and the hostel took great care with Covid guidelines. The one downside was my car was broken into right outside the hostel doors, so I recommend either emptying your car or finding a gated place to park if you’re going to stay there.
