I had only one nights stay here but when I come back to Portland, because I will definitely be returning, I am going to be staying at HI Portland - Northwest. This place was wonderful, it's a millennial's dream hostel. There is a rad cafe that plays dope music and has decently priced beer and food. Their Kale Cobb salad was AMAZING! The night I stayed over there was a beer and wine tasting of local breweries, wineries and cideries (?). The staff is fabulous as well. So helpful and kind :) TY.

I booked this hostel about a month in advance and I think it was perfect for a place to stay. The guests were very nice, everything felt clean and modern. I loved the fact that my room had a bathroom and shower inside. The people at the front desk were super helpful and I stored my backpack before checking in. If you're looking for a place to stay, its great to meet people, eat a good breakfast and sleep. Very close to bus stops and downtown area and in a safe neighborhood.

I was a little nervous at first as I had never stayed in a hostel before and was traveling alone, but it had great reviews and was super close to the conference center I was frequenting so I decided to go for it and am glad I did. I didn't arrive until about 1:30am and the front desk staff was really kind and accommodating. Lockers were bigger than expected, I fit a duffel bag & bookbag in it. Bed was comfortable, cafe food was great. Shower pressure was low but ok. Great experience overall.

I had a fun time at HI Portland. It was an interesting setup like none I had ever experienced before because there are three or four different buildings. I was in the main one with the front desk and cafe area, which felt a little more like a hotel, especially once you get to the upper floors with the rooms. The rooms were great though, extremely spacious and kept very clean. Lots of bathroom options too. There was a community dinner in the cafe my first night, where I met a lot of fun people.

The location was amazing and the rooms were pretty great - comfy beds and everything was clean. Not much in the way of atmosphere though, so not great if you are a solo traveler.

Nice the idea of the old house, but I would suggest to keep a normal shower. The house feels a bit empty, not really a hostel, nobody is around not even in the evening in the kitchen. Breakfast is just a bagel and a coffee and not even possible to refill. I think it is overall overrated. It is very clean though.
