I love this hostel. The location is stunning (and convenient), the staff are always very helpful, the cafe has terrific food and prices, and it's really clean. This is the best-kept secret in San Francisco. Love it!

This is a great hostel! The staff are warm and helpful. The building is historic and very cozy. Breakfast is generous and free. The location is the greatest. It's a little bit out of the city in Ft Mason. You will be 5 minutes walk from a bus that will take you to the bridge or downtown. You are 5 minutes walk from Safeway, just don't go in the afternoon. Early morning and later in the evening there won't be a line. Free Parking = Priceless! Have fun!

I had a great time and enjoyed my stay. The building is older and has some character but in a good way. It is well maintained and clean. For breakfast there were several options- oatmeal, granola and some good sour-dough bread. The location is excelent. Close to stuff to do and in a part of town with fewer homeless. If I visit San Francisco again I will probably stay here again.

The hostel at Fisherman's Wharf is a perfect location for visiting SF. It's a great balance between being in the city and having opened space to walk and enjoy the environment. Breakfast is free, but is pretty limited. The kitchen, however, is excellent, large and well equipment, and there is a major supermarket a short walk away. There too are a couple of excellent coffee bar/cafes a five minute walk away. The beds are clean and comfortable....overall highly recommended for all ages.

Unfortunately the Wuhan virus cancelled my stay. I was really looking forward to staying here. The registration process was very easy and efficient. When the State started to shut everything down the hostel was quick to send me an email and refund all fees. I will try to stay there soon.

The best quality in this hostel was the location - right in Fort Mason, views of the Golden Gate bridge and close to Fisherman's Wharf. I was disappointed with the facilities, having stayed at other HI hostels, this location was not up to par. Some of the bunk beds don't have ladders and they're wooden so their very unstable to climb up on the side and I had to change my bed assignment twice. Plugs for electronics are only at one side of the room. There were also guests who appeared homeless.

The venue and location were quite nice, however the bathrooms were a little gross and our dorm room smelt weird and we are pretty confident someone was jacking off both nights we stayed there.

Not for a young solo traveller. It could just be that i was unlucky however during my stay there were two separate school groups that came through a number of families and older guests stopping over for a night or two. Staff seem disinterested and not very welcoming. Free breakfast is granola or oats with an apple orange juice or coffee. Cutlery and bowls were always dirty. Showers allow for very little privacy. One power-board by door for charging. Location is the only reason i would Recommend.
