Excellent place, super-friendly staff and great accommodation. I especially like the communal kitchen and the breakfast pancakes.

Great place close to Amtrak station. All people were of high calibre - the staff and guests. Actually the whole city is full of great, smart, progressive people including the homeless man I spoke with at length downtown. I was impressed by the Chef there would prepared an excellent vegan meal for a donation. She was very astute intellectually. How lucky I was to stay there. They have parking back of the house. The only drawback was check in was after 4:30 pm. so I had time to explore SLO.

Awesome location a few streets away from downtown SLO. Parking is great as the hostel is on a residential street. At night it's pitch black on SR St (no street lights). Lockers in the dorm rooms (provide your own lock!) and the front door was locked from 10pm - 8am. Anyone could walk in from 4:30p-10p though; staff were busy upstairs or in the back kitchen (not at the front desk). Bring your own ear plugs as bunks are creaky and walls are thin.

I had a very pleasant stay overall. The staff at Hostel Obispo are lovely, guests vary in age range, the pancakes were a nice touch. Forgot that check-in was at 4:30 so I had to post up at a coffee shop for a bit, but no other hitches. Would definitely recommend!

Comfortable experience in a historic house about 10 minutes walk to downtown and 5 minute walk to train station. The neighborhood and hostel are quiet, and the atmosphere lends itself to good conversations with other travelers. Since it was raining all day, I found it inconvenient that you cannot be in the hostel from 11am-4:30pm every day. That really takes away from the experience of such a cool hostel.

The hostel is super close to the train station so very handy. Would have been cool if it opened before 4:30 pm so I could have dropped my bags off and go wander more easily into town. Nice atmosphere, very cosy and welcoming staff.

Relatively basic hostel that could do with some updating to decor and beds (my mattress was somewhat wider than the bed frame so sloped at the edge) however there is comfortable common space available and a really friendly atmosphere supported by the staff on duty. Most people come here to do local hikes or as part of the highway one Californian coastal road trip. San Luis itself has quite a small downtown area. I really enjoyed my stay here due to the friendly and relaxed atmosphere.

It could be better. Very small. Charging socks in room are not enough.
