Overview

Roll out of bed for a free breakfast of muffins, fruit and bagels at HI Vancouver Downtown. There's also free coffee, tea and purified water! Take your caffeine hit out to our rooftop terrace and grab a table with a parasol or spread out on a sun bed. Or join one of our tours to Stanley Park or Lynn Valley. On cloudy days, take an armchair seat in our library (it's lined with bookshelves full of great reads). We also have a TV room with cable, where you can catch up on your favourite shows in our cinema-style seats.

Location

We're located in the peaceful West End residential neighbourhood which is an easy walk from the sights. One block away you'll find Davie St – a great place for hanging out in cafés or clubbing. Walk 10 minutes and you'll reach Sunset Beach or False Creek Ferries for a trip to Granville Island (pick up seafood at the public market to bring back for dinner). To get here from Vancouver International Airport, take the Canada Line train to the Yaletown-Roundhouse stop. Hop on the 6 Davie bus (Westbound) to Thurlow St and we're a 2-minute walk from there. It should take around 40 minutes in total.

Rooms and Dorms

As well as private rooms, we have mixed and single-sex dorms. All our rooms have sinks and your bunk comes with free linen and towels. We're also wheelchair-friendly. Store your stuff in a security locker – that, and the secure key-card access, should keep it all safe!

Extras and activities

Make a packed lunch in our huge kitchen before heading off for a spot of window shopping at CF Pacific Centre mall. If you're staying in one night, you can use our free Wi-Fi to post some pics of pool competitions in our games room. Lost that last round? Step up to the foosball table to show who's boss. And if that wasn't successful either, pop by our 24-hour reception to get tips for late-opening bars nearby.

    Superb

A friend and I shared a private room at the hostel. It was very cost efficient, safe location and also walking distance to everything. The staff were AMAZING! 3 things I would just call out were: No way to control temp in rooms (since it rains frequently, it gets too cold for those of us who are not used to it). We enjoy the thought of movie room/library/pool room, but it was just not inviting at all. It's too bad bc it's a big space and has lots of potential. No lights at the rooftop.

This is an excellent hostel for those looking for a bit of peace and quiet and away from the partying. I appreciated how clean and well-kept everything was. The rooms and bathrooms were spacious and modern. I also liked how there was a movie room, a library, and a rec room. Some constructive feedback include having better access to plugs from the top bunk, better coffee because it was honestly awful, more engaging daily activities that show off more of Vancouver and at competitive prices.

I stayed there for one night and enjoyed it! Overall great place to stay but also don't have an unrealistic expectation. Great location, awesome staffs, the rooms are a bit old but still worth the money. Only thing I didn't like so much is the doors... like, there's no way to close the door quietly and I can hear other rooms close and open the doors lol Also, if you're taking no. 6 bus after the train, make sure you take the one on the SAME SIDE when you get out of the train station. Lol

Thin walls and loud clanking doors. Great place. Clean. Friendly staff. Superb location. Great value. Bring ear plugs if you're a light sleeper.

Clean, organised and very quiet. Much more akin to a hotel than a hostel, if you're looking for an atmosphere to hang out and.meet people this probably isn't the place for you. That said, the location is great and the staff are helpful.

Pros: decent price, nice and helpful staff, plenty of rooms, great dvd collection in the movie room, pool table (coin-op) Cons: little to no social atmosphere (you’re better off in their Granville street location), stiff mattresses I also heard some mice scurrying around in the ceiling tiles of the movie room, I don’t think they have a major problem, but they are there.

Wifi does not work in the rooms. Other than that, the hostel is fine, the beds are pretty comfortable and it was really affordable.
