Property Description

Nestled in the mountainous landscape of the Eastfjords, Seyðisfjörður is a true gem of a town with colourful little houses and a vibrant arts community. It was the site of the internationally acclaimed television series Trapped, showing its ominous side in the middle of winter. In the summer the town is alive with culture events, and when the Norröna ferry docks every week it is transformed into the smallest metropolis in the world.
Seyðisfjörður HI Hostel offers accommodation in two different but equally charming historic houses; Hafaldan Harbour & Hafaldan Old Hospital.

Hafaldan Old Hospital is located in the towns centre in the historic former hospital building. The building has been under constant renovation for the last years and is without a doubt one of Icelands most charming hostels with beautiful interior design. The newest pride is the little basements 'SPA' where guests can enjoy a Sauna & relax after a busy day of sightseeing. The hostel offers variety of different rooms both with private and shared bathroom.

We look forward to seeing you! View House Rules

This Hostel is very clean and well run. Staff is helpful and friendly and there is a nice big space in the kitchen to make and eat meals. Showers downstairs were amazing and my family loved the sauna.

My husband and I stayed there before and just found everything we needed there, in addition to many extra amenities and a super friendly staff. It is also a perfect location for this area. When we returned this year we brought our grandchildren, ages 14 and 17. Of all the places we stayed around Iceland, they liked this stay the best. They just felt warmth and comfort there... something you can't make tangible. We will always choose Hafaldan HI hostel when we are in Seydisfjordur, Iceland.

Such a neat place in a beautiful village in the eastfjours. Kitchen was big, clean. Bathrooms were nice! Rooms were nice, only complaint was the beds were not very comfortable at all. But met some really interesting people here, probably one of my favorite stops along the ring road!

Very lovely old and spacious building in a beautiful town! Clean, with fully stocked kitchen and friendly multilingual staff. Only downside is the walls are very thin so all noise from hallways can be heard.

Beautiful spacious hostel located in the heart of Seydisfjordur. Chill atmosphere fitting for solo travelers, groups, and families. Friendly accomodating staff. No locks or lockers in mixed dorms, but security is not an issue. My favourite part is the basement level with showers, laundry, sauna - reminds me of a spa! Easily one of the best hostel experiences I've had in a while. Sets the bar high. This hospital converted hostel definitely adds to the overall charm of this quaint little town!

This place is pretty cool. The building is interesting itself. Everything was clean and people seemed to be having a good time in the dining room. Seydisfjordur is small, so it's easy to get everywhere. I never met any staff, but I was only there one night. My only complaint is that the curtains were translucent. So if you can only sleep in darkness, you'll need an eye mask.

Very friendly reception with great suggestions of local spots! The whole hostel is set up great for community and comfort. The only thing is the beds are terrible. It’s like laying straight on the springs. I just assumed it was my mattress but it was the same with my brothers. So if you aren’t planning on staying more than one night I’d highly recommend it. Great location as well. Everything perfect except for the beds! Honestly I’d stay again! Just be aware of the beds.

It's overall a great hostel, the kitchen is one of the best we've seen in our trip, but I think it's a bit overpriced for a hostel. In comparison, we paid less for a private room in other comparable hostels than for a bunk bed in this one...
