This is a good hostel for those arriving to Auckland! It’s got bunks with curtains (for jet lag naps), luggage storage, walking distance to downtown and Mt Eden, and a large chill kitchen/living area. The vibe is pretty quiet and the internet was pretty bad, especially in the rooms. Otherwise definitely stay here if you’re just arriving!

Perfect hostel after a long flight! The beds allow a great sleep (love the curtain!) and the lovely receptionist let me use the showers when I arrived before the check in.

Loved to stay here. The curtains and the way the beds were build gave much privacy. Staying in a 5-bedroom and a 20-bedroom didn’t made any difference for my comfort!! Hostel is not really a place to meet people. Lot of people come and go from the airport and/or tours. There isn’t a very social culture and the crowd is quite young (18-23) during my stay. Besides that I loved to stay in the hostel. Kitchen is great and loved my privacy.

Only downside is that there are no areas to relax in after 11pm, so you're forced to be in your room. This is a huge inconvenience and really changes the dynamic and sociability of the hostel.

Rooms where very clean Only the toilets where sometimes dirty but it was off the people who stayed there. Not cleaning up after themselves when they have to do a biggie. What's bad and sad at the same time. But I loved haka lodge! Very good one!

Overall a very nice hostel to stay in. The cleanliness was great, as were the privacy curtains. I really like the common room/kitchen area, it is quite cosy and great to meet other people. The fridge ist big enough, nice with the storage boxes. What really bothered me though is the hostel's approach on their customers. Several times the kitchen was closed half an hour early because of larger groups making too much noise. Extras are really expensive; e.g. a towel, one-time use $4?! Pretty unfair.

First hostel I ever stayed at. Was very clean, bathrooms and shower facilities were superb! Was only here for the night so I didn’t use any of the kitchen or lounge areas. Staff was alright, could have been a little more clear about where rooms were and such. Told me room 6 but gave me a room 11 key but in the grand scheme of things no big deal! Would stay here again

Very clean and comfortable rooms and bathrooms. A little noisy outside on K-Road, but a good area for cheap restaurants and bars. Not far to walk into centre of town. Friendly staff and good facilities, especially with large kitchen/dining area.

aside from being given the wrong door code for late entry, and the tv room remote was lost, i am a staunch believer in this K'rd hostel.
