This was one of the nicest hostels I stayed at for two weeks in NZ. It has less of a traditional hostel feel to it but this was a refresh for me. The dorm rooms have privacy curtains, outlets, and lockable areas below the beds for everyone. Very clean bathrooms and shower areas.

Very nice, great view, staff were super helpful, very clean and modern, rooms had great little bunk beds with curtains. Rooms were a little hot but they provided fans.

This was a really nice, chilled place to stay with an incredible view from the kitchen/lounge. Atmosphere is friendly but quiet, staff are helpful. My one piece of criticism is that the dorm rooms are cramped - we were 6 friends in 1 room so we coped ok but I think it'd be slightly more awkward to navigate with strangers and would get a bit claustrophobic for longer than a couple of nights. They are well equipped though with plug sockets, a little shelf, under bed storage etc.

Easily one of the best hostels I've stayed at in NZ! The beds are super comfy with all the little details I.e. plug/light/storage and privacy curtain and the hostel is immaculately clean! It is a very chilled hostel, not a party one but a huge common area and kitchen space to relax and have some downtime! Shout out to Rosa, super friendly member of staff who makes you feel so welcome and has heaps of Nz travel info! I'd definitely recommend staying here :)

My first experience at a Haka Lodge, really enjoyed it, the small room size were comfortable as were the beds with the privacy curtain which I always appreciate at hostels. The kitchen and lounge areas were large and well equipped. Washrooms and shower areas were clean. Only wish that the receptionists could have provided better local knowledge about the surrounding areas, as in local insider knowledge. They were only able to tell me the same tours which were found in the touristy brochures arou

The hostel was okay and clean as you would expect but there's a couple of things that I really didn't like. Firstly the rooms here are so small and they have 4 beds in them. They are definitely the smallest rooms i've seen in any hostel. So small that that there's no functioning window, the room stinks and I barely got any sleep. The second thing is the WIFI, I have noticed that every Haka Lodge i've stayed at blocks access to the bookme website. Try it yourself if you don't believe me.
