Would be remiss if I didn’t say this was one of the best foreign accommodations I’ve ever stayed at. Extremely clean, staff was super chill. Private rooms were spacious and styled like a Ryokan. Had some back pain from the futons we slept on, but other than that 5/5.

One of the best places I stayed during my 7 weeks travels through South Korea and Japan. Great staff, great hostel, awesome with the private onsens and the food was good as well. Easy to get around Hakone with bus and train from this place. Would definitely come back again!

Had an amazing stay, lovely and welcoming staff, great traditional rooms with traditional Japanese beds. Bar and restaurant served great food and the common area was really great, cosy atmosphere. There are also two onsens at the hostel which was truly a standout. You could have an onsen to yourself if you liked too and we did not have wait much to use them. Would stay here again, highly recommend.

Very beautiful place. Staff was nice and helpful and we slept well on comfortable futons. The atmosphere was really on point! Too bad we had very noisy people staying at the hostel with us. It was a bit difficult to sleep because of that. Hot springs was awesome too but we couldn't bath inside of it because it was way too hot for us. Such a pity but we have good memories of this place anyway!

I wanted to go hiking in an area where you could see mt Fuji. Stayed in Hakone tent hostel. I was glad I stayed all the way in Gora as Hakone itself looked very touristy. Nice hostel, cosy bar and their onsen is private. Dorms are futons. Not much English spoken but helpful and friendly staff I hiked to mount Kintoki from there: nice views of Fuji from the top, nice hike, not too difficult and you can take another route back down. Would have liked to stay longer but they were fully booked

My stay here was enjoyable although the hostel is located on the other side of the mountain from where all the must-see tourist attractions are located. The price of local transit is quite high too. I stayed in a shared room which had no division in between people which meant no privacy. The onsen are great, however, and the BYOB to the bar is a great bonus.
