Lovely place with a traditional Japanese feel. The staff were warm and welcoming, the beds were comfortable and the showers were good. There are places to eat and drink close by and a coffee shop 5 minutes away. Would definitely stay here again if I ever go back to Fukuoka. Thanks :)

If you are travelling to Fukuoka, stay at Hakozaki Garden! I extended my stay in Fukuoka because of how welcome I felt at this hostel. I spent an evening eating hotpot, drinking sake, talking and laughing with the staff in the hostel. The staff wrote out meticulous directions to "off-the-beaten-track" locations I wanted to visit. The accommodations are clean, beautiful, traditional, and comfortable. Free breakfast is cafe/restaurant quality. The services are great (free bikes!). Superb hostel!

Probably the best hostel experience I've had! Had drinks with the owner, did judo with one of the employees, everyone was friendly and everything was clean and cozy. I'm not the type to actually write a review, but this place was very special. Highest recommendations if you are visiting Fukuoka!!!

Really nice hostel located in a not so busy area, but still easy to get to. Roughly 5 min walk from the nearby station, which is two stops over from Hakata main station. I stayed in the mixed dorm. The beds were comfy and spacious, and felt very closed off and private. The staff, and especially the owner, were really nice! Laundry and towels are free of charge, as is the breakfast. No locker for your big bag, but they had a small one available for valuables. Had a great stay, highly recommended!

Nice japanese guesthouse in a quiet area two JR train stops from Hakata station. Free laundry facilities and they have breakfast as well. The staff and the owner are very friendly and helpful. There is a shared kitchen and beds are comfortable. All areas nicely decorated and clean. Small safe with a combination for each dorm guest but would not fit a laptop or anything bigger. The place itself still feels safe and secure. Would recommend if you are looking for a comfy quiet couple of nights.

My first hostel in Japan, had a great time, the staff were really friendly and I enjoyed staying in a typical Japanese style house with tatami floor and miso soup and rice for breakfast. Definitely recommend staying here.

The Japanese breakfast at this guesthouse is not bad, but the dishes are too little. And the enter space of the lower beds at the female room is too narrow, it is a little bit problem for me to enter into it because it is blocked half of the enter space by a wooden stair which is for the upper bed use. Only half of bed space for the guest to get into the bed is not easy to do it, especially for the Western women. It is dark n quiet to get there at night.

The location was a little far from the city areas but a nice accommodation. There is no area to lock up your personal items or a lock on the bedroom door but the location felt safe. I picked this hostel because many were booked for the weekend but didnt feel worth the price.
