It was my 3rd visit to Hakozaki Garden! I was a bit exhausted but after checking in, the Garden was so relaxing. You could either enjoy talking with other foreigners in the Japanese living room or taking time for sleep in a warm wooden individual bed. Some said this place is not a quiet place, but this guesthouse is not a private hotel. If you want to meet foreign people in Fukuoka or take an experience in a Japanese culture and home-style breakfast, I strongly recommend Hakozaki Garden! Thanks!

Very beautiful and scenic hostel, with a rare tatami dorm and walking distance to both JR station and subway. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, and made the stay very enjoyable. The free breakfast is also a nice addition. Would definitely stay here again.

I wish I could give this hostel an 11/10. I arrived to the warmest and friendliest welcome I have ever received. The owners and staff are all so lovely. The hostel has the most chill and relaxing atmosphere. I ended up extending my stay so I could relax a day longer. There is a beautiful garden and common space to share with other guests. A short 5 min walk to the train station and combini. Would highly recommend this hostel.

This is by far the best guesthouse I've ever stayed with. It is cozy, quiet and peaceful. I love the way they designed the common room and the dorm. The common room is designed in Japanese style with nice decorations (Japanese fans, kimono, etc.). Japanese traditional background light music is playing all day long, which makes the place so nice. The dorm bed is separated into cabinets with curtains, which is quite good for individual privacy. I also enjoyed my stroll around the blocks.

The atmosphere and staff were phenomenal, and the beds were actually quite comfortable. They also do a great job of keeping the communal room clean despite all the people. Only qualms—it’s a bit out of the way, and there are no keys. Anyone with the code can walk in.

Staff helpful but the place has no atmosphere. No one is allowed in the common area after 11pm, which is a bit ridiculous. At the same time they accept kids groups that make more noise in the dormitories than adults would ever do in the living room.

The house itself and the staff are really nice, but this house has paper thin walls so you hear every footstep being taken in there. We had the misfortune of staying when there were also 3 child families staying and they didn't exactly try to be quiet which made it impossible to sleep. There are also no locks on the room doors. The free Japanese breakfast was really nice, and like I already mentioned the staff were amazingly nice, but I will try another hostel for my next stay in Fukuoka.
