A wonderful hostel! All the staff are very kind and welcoming, and definitely one of the best hostels I've ever stayed in. Would 100% recommend this place to anyone seeking a hostel in Halifax!

Great hostel! Very warm and welcoming. The cafe below is a real local spot with good drinks and food. Very chill vibe and great staff! The walk into the downtown isn't bad just hilly. The neighborhood is very local, great street murals and some cool cafes. Would definitely stay again if I ever make it back to Halifax!

Had a great time last weekend at Backpackers- immediately felt comfortable with the staff and space. Spent most of my time walking around town (you'll be in a great location for it), but could have been content hanging out in the cafe and their patio area. We came a little early in the season, but seems like there is lots to do during the summer, as the hostel hosts pub crawls, brunches and BBQs:) Would happily return.

A very colourful, artsy, fun and funky place with kind, helpful and friendly staff. Michelle even gave us a free upgrade because the other private room (which had two beds instead of one) was not taken. The staff gave us great recommendations on where to go and what to do. We enjoyed our stay. Also, there is one free parking spot which we got to use. Nice.

The building is older but is certainly kept clean, we stayed in room 7 and didn't have any issues with cleanliness at all. The location is just on the verge of being in a sketchy area, but walking maybe 2 minutes down the road and you are in a very well lit business section of town. We were able to walk to downtown and back with no issues late at night on a saturday. Overall, good value for the money and if we ever need a place to stay we'll stay there again!

Staff were all kind and helpful, though there was an issue with the website incorrectly calculating post-tax amount due. The owner helped resolve things and report it to the website, though beware that the charge due on arrival may be a few dollars more than indicated on the website. Facilities were fine; clean and comfortable but definitely in the no-frills backpacker genre.

I was only at Backpackers the one evening but it seemed like the kind of place where you might come to feel at home in a very short time. Great cappuccino, good folks. Thanks.

A very small, cosy and homely hostel. People staying were very friendly and helpful. It was a bit of a shame that there is limited recycling facilities. I was in room 5 and it was pretty noisy due to the traffic and being on the main road so I would say ear plugs are a must and the curtain wasn't too good at blocking out the light in the room. I was in a comfy upper bunk but the shelf was broken. Overall I would recommend : ) good location for the waterfront and other amenities.
