It was a great experience. Staff are super friendly. I went to see the staff for an issue and they managed right away and took the burden on them. Thanks Afrika for taking in charge of the situation. Note that the rooms are shared and you shouldn't expect 100% quiet like in a hotel. The cafe downstairs is nice for a morning tea or coffee to start your day. You can pretty much walk everywhere within a 15 min walk and up to 30 min for point pleasant park.

A solid hostel located a 15min walk from the heart of downtown Halifax. Staff were pleasant and helpful. I was able to cook, shower, and sleep with no issues. A great way to save money if you don't mind shared rooms; I felt I got what I paid for and a bit more. Had no issues with other backpackers and most were quite friendly.

We stayed in the mixed dorm, it’s bunk bed style and the rooms are well kept. You have a locker for your things, make sure to bring a lock and the parking is really close by! We walked to the waterfront it’s about a 30 minute walk and a 6 minute Uber ride. We had a little bit of a hard time finding the actual hostel but it’s connected to a cafe that makes tasty and affordable food.

Nice informal, laid-back hostel. Friendly staff, clean facilities and there is a cafe. The only downside is that there are a lot of homeless people in the area. I didn't have any trouble with them but I was constantly being accosted by some very dodgy characters which was a bit off-putting.

I spent 2 nights at the Halifax Backpackers hostel. I loved the area, and the atmosphere of the hostel! There was lovely common areas that were great to spend time in with new people. I did notice the lock on our door was broken, so I did feel a little nervous about my things. Especially since the front was a public cafe. But I also wasn’t too concerned about that. I would definitely recommend the hostel to others, it was a highlight of my trip.

The staff at this hostel are absolutely lovely, but it did not make up for the infrastructure of this hostel. The rooms are located on the third floor of this older building with no air conditions, and no air flow. For just the beginning of summer, it was a sweat fest trying to sleep. I stayed in a private room that overlooked the main street, crazy noisy. We were given a fan, but it was inadequate for the heat.

We arrived Sunday early evening. We received a a multi paragraph email that morning that no one would be there to show us the hostal. The staff are off on Sunday from 5pm?We didn't pay less for no service we were just told how it would be and that was that. After driving all day we had to deal with a lock box and find out about the facilities the next day.The manager told us she was at a party on the south shore so no one was on the desk.No coffee makers so you have to buy from cafe.Self serving.
