Facilities clean and tasteful, staff genuine and generous, location in a quiet, restful tea-planting village within the city but with reasonable access to major sites by bus. At the time of writing, bus service ends by 9 pm; afterwards one must travel by taxi. Has a library of Chinese literature in the lobby with modern and classic works alike. I am returning to Hangzhou in August. I have chosen to stay again at Rohcha for the serenity of the place and the warmth of the staff.

Away from the crowds of the commercial and tourist heart of Hangzhou stretches a long road through thick foliage of trees. It leads to tea plantations and villages; in one village lies the hostel Rohcha. Quiet, clean, equipped with AC, mosquito repellent, and a library: all I needed this hostel had. The staff is warm but does not solicit—only ask and they will answer. Inexpensive family restaurant (Nong Jia Le) a short walk away. Construction project in the village during daytime, but not bad.

The location is great for hiking the mountains. Beautiful scenery. Bus stops are near by to get to the city for 2 yaun. Close to small mart and local restaurants. A walk to west lake is long but doable. The one negative I have is the mattresses are very thin and therefore firm (typical in China).

Right next to tea plantations! Satyed there for three nights, was a clam and relaxing variation to the otherwise lively city of Hangzhou. 30 min drive with taxi to the city, but the best place to explore the hill side and tea plantations. Friendly staff and super fancy decorated, would stay there again. Clean and comfy.

This place is super clean. Shower was spotless. Bed is pretty comfy and there's a locker right next to your bed, which I find very convenient. You don't have to crawl out of your bed and use a light to get to your locker when everyone else is asleep. The location isn't super great, but the closest bus stop is only a 5 minute walk away. If you use Mobike, the location isn't really a problem. Staff was helpful. A towel costs an extra 5 yuan.

Great place for a getaway. Staff were really friendly, and it is ideally located for the tea fields. I've been to Hangzhou a few times and can say this has been my favourite part so far. Only issues were some dogs constantly barking at each other, and how cold the place was (it was winter but there was no heating on in public areas even though there was aircon!) But overall great, with a really local feel.

We only stayed one night as the room was cold (but I think this is to be expected in winter). The bed was also really hard because it was a very thin mattress on a plank of wood (but this is common in China). I think this would be a lovely place in the summer if you don’t mind the hard beds. We couldn’t find cheap places to eat nearby, and the free breakfast was coffee and bread. It is in a gorgeous area though in the tea villages!

Nice place but incredibly hard beds - I guess this is what a bed in prison feels like

Only Chinese tourists. Neighborhood looks like an earthquake hit: empty, torn up roads, half done homes. No WiFi without Chinese phone #. They have lists of restos and activities but they're only in Chinese and in handwriting Google can't read. My thin mattress was the top bunk with slanted ceiling so I couldn't sit up in bed. Missing lamp, broken locker. Front door left open in evening so mosquitoes in common area. Nearest resto 20-25 min walk, hostel only sold instant noodles. No free water
