If you're looking for a super-friendly atmosphere and a great time, make the Happy Buddha Boutique Hostel your base in Medellín! As we're a party hostel, you can expect different events every night, from music, drinking games and budget-friendly cocktails at our bar, to games tournaments with ping pong, pool and billiards. Next stop: our night club! Make sure you grab a bite first at one of our two restaurants, or café. The only choice is, sushi or tacos? The next day, indulge in your free breakfast (and coffee, of course) and eat out on our sunny outdoor terrace.

You’ll find us in Medellín, the second largest – (we say the prettiest too, but we might be biased!) – city in Colombia. You’ll feel welcome from the minute you arrive, because your private transfer makes the 45-minute journey from the airport stress-free. We’re in La Florida neighbourhood, where you’ll find bars, cafés and the city park (6 minutes’ walk away) – the perfect places to watch the world go by.

Rooms and Dorms

Back at the hostel, unwind in your comfy room – choose from mixed or female-only dorms. Go for a private room if you've accumulated loads of stuff on your travels – you'll get a 32in flat screen TV too, and some have en-suite bathrooms! Rooms have oversized lockers for all your stuff, as well as in-room mini fridges for keeping those local beers cold. Just remember to pick up your key card and free linen at reception.

Extras and activities

Not sure how to spend your time in magical Medellín? Chat to our friendly bilingual staff at the 24-hour reception. They’ll book you onto our favourite tours, sort out bike hire and give you a free city map. We've got free Wi-Fi in the lounge to keep your followers up to date too. Host a games night with other travellers – just pick up some snacks from our mini supermarket, then settle into the lounge with some board games. You, competitive? Never.

Great place to stay, in a quiet but close to the action street which provides you with a short walk to all the main restaurants and night life

We had a private room and it was super clean, we could even check in early when we arrived. Staff were friendly. Was pretty quiet but we arrived on a Monday and there were still people at the bar. Went on the graffiti Communa 13 tour through them and it was 10/10!

Great hostel! Definitely a party hostel, Lots of common areas where it’s easy to meet people. The free breakfast was pretty good and the bathrooms were constantly being cleaned. All in all a pretty nice hostel with friendly staff

Great location, only a few minutes walk to the Main Street and plenty of restaurants and bars close by. The staff were always helpful and friendly. We had a private room - there was an issue with a leak that caused some mould so they were happy for us to change rooms with no issues. We stayed during the week so there wasn’t a great vibe.. we left on a Friday so perhaps the party starts then but found it hard to socialise unless you were in the bar area. Breakfast was A+ for free.

This is not a party hostel. They do not do activities like it says on the description. My first two nights there (Thursday and Friday), the bar in the hostal was absolutely dead. On the Saturday I didn't even try. The lockers are not oversized - they are what you would expect from a hostal. Once you put in your big travel rucksack there's not a whole lot left. Nb

Our beds had bedbugs. The location is great but noisy since there’s a bar on the premises

We had been recommended this hostel as ‘the best party hostel in Medellin’ - this was far from the truth. It was completely dead, no atmosphere, the whole thing was being painted black, quite depressing - even the drinks were overpriced even though the bar was completely dead. The only good thing was the location. Do not stay here if you are looking for a party hostel.

For a place claiming to be a party hostel there was no party at all. The place is empty and the bar didn’t open at all until the last few days I was here. Lacking in social activities and communal areas it’s not really a giving place, could be off season but regardless was disappointed. Few very friendly staff got me through the stay, but some can only speak Spanish, hard when you’re only just learning the language

Got recommended this by friends. Apparently it used to be the best party hostel but according to people we spoke to a number of factors has made it basically the deadest atmosphere in the city. Staff not very helpful. TVs don’t work couldn’t even watch the copa America. Not very clean. Honestly the worst thing about my trip to Columbia was this place. DO NOT STAY HERE
