If you're looking for a super-friendly atmosphere and a great time, make the Happy Buddha Boutique Hostel your base in Medellín! As we're a party hostel, you can expect different events every night, from music, drinking games and budget-friendly cocktails at our bar, to games tournaments with ping pong, pool and billiards. Next stop: our night club! Make sure you grab a bite first at one of our two restaurants, or café. The only choice is, sushi or tacos? The next day, indulge in your free breakfast (and coffee, of course) and eat out on our sunny outdoor terrace.

You’ll find us in Medellín, the second largest – (we say the prettiest too, but we might be biased!) – city in Colombia. You’ll feel welcome from the minute you arrive, because your private transfer makes the 45-minute journey from the airport stress-free. We’re in La Florida neighbourhood, where you’ll find bars, cafés and the city park (6 minutes’ walk away) – the perfect places to watch the world go by.

Rooms and Dorms

Back at the hostel, unwind in your comfy room – choose from mixed or female-only dorms. Go for a private room if you've accumulated loads of stuff on your travels – you'll get a 32in flat screen TV too, and some have en-suite bathrooms! Rooms have oversized lockers for all your stuff, as well as in-room mini fridges for keeping those local beers cold. Just remember to pick up your key card and free linen at reception.

Extras and activities

Not sure how to spend your time in magical Medellín? Chat to our friendly bilingual staff at the 24-hour reception. They’ll book you onto our favourite tours, sort out bike hire and give you a free city map. We've got free Wi-Fi in the lounge to keep your followers up to date too. Host a games night with other travellers – just pick up some snacks from our mini supermarket, then settle into the lounge with some board games. You, competitive? Never.

    Very Good

Hostel itself was fine. This place was recommended by a friend as a party hostel. However, it was completely dead for half our stay. Great rooms and everything. My gripe with the hostel is the Staff and how unengaging they are. You ask them for a recommendation for anything or directions and they could not be less helpful. Only helpful person was the lady bartender and Dionne. Everyone else just seemed like they were hating their jobs and did not enjoy the company of travellers.

I had booked this hostel since we would be going to Guatape, and the website said that there was a shuttle every M,W,F. When we got there they said that there was no shuttle which was rather frustrating. I would not have stayed if I had known there was no shuttle available. It is very much a party hostel and the music would play until 2 am every night and was very loud from the room. Since there is only a fan in the room we needed to keep the windows open and the noise was incredibly loud.

Great location but this is NOT a party hostel. I wouldn’t stay here if you’re looking to meet people because it was dead! Absolutely no atmosphere

Advertised as a party hostel, but I was there on a weekend and the place was completely empty. Had to cancel the second night and switch hostels because we were the only ones there

The common area is an empty nightclub that blasts music until 4am, only people there are passing through with bar crawls. There is no chill out area to meet other backpackers. Cockroach in the room, room smells damp and has major stank. Can't sleep even with ear plugs. In the morning when the music dies down they do construction. Staff are not well trained and struggled to check me in via Hostel World. Worst hostel I've stayed at. Just go there for an overpriced drink, don't stay there.
